Seconds after I posted this in a perfectly civil thread, the thread was deleted. Hence I repost here:
Yes, there are plenty of eternal malcontents on the internet and they should be ignored.
However, Aeria seems to finds criticism unwelcome. Rather than encouraging criticism (other than superficially) and responding to it positively with a view to improve its games and policies, I find them heavy-handed in moderating discussion.
The flippant attitude of some GSs when legitimately criticised (e.g., some responses in this thread) is a cause for concern.
Rather than acting as liaisons between the players and publishers, GSs (with notable exceptions) tend to behave like minor Aeria employees: of course, if they still receive monthly stipends of AP, that’s exactly what they are. They would have every motivation to toe the party line, as it were.
I know: Aeria is a business, players should be grateful, criticism equals whining, etc. I was taught, however, that the customer is always right: that principle applies to online commerce no less than when you walk into a store.
