Title: The Hating Girl

Author: Rokunishi Koji

Books: 5

Summary: Ryouji, a young schoolboy, transfers to a new school where he meets a very unique girl. This girl, Asumi, has an arrow stuck in her head, a trait which prompts Ryouji to first find out why it's there, and then to befriend her. The story follows the two as their relationship grows and changes.

Opinion: What. The. ****.

Someone was doing some hardcore drugs when they decided to create this series. A plot that revolves around a girl living with an arrow through her skull and a boy who's too much of a wimp to ask what happened left me horrified, laughing, and strangely charmed.

It took me a few chapters to get into it, and it's strange and simple artwork was a little bit of a turnoff at first. But after that, I couldn't put the series away. The comedy was sometimes a little overbearing, but the sweetness of the thing as a whole evened everything out quite nicely. And once I thought about it, the art fit the personality of the series quite well.

Quirky, cute, and simple.

I thoroughly recommend this series for everyone. Even if you are not a fan of romance and comedy, go and read it now.
