I think that this is the song that you're looking for. I checked YouTube, but I couldn't find a version containing to original civil war march instrumental. All I could find were more modern folk song versions, such as this.  

I am experimenting with a comic video of Shaiya, some from actual frapsed action and some I want to try to animate myself. Not sure if I can pull it off but hopefully a bit of comic relief instead of the usual boring fraps footage.

There's a fast paced piece of music played on snare drum and picolo, usually accompanied by limping USA civil war wounded. Cartoons often use it where the character pretends to play the picolo and limps in time with the drum. I know the tune well and can hear it in my head but I just don't know the title.

Maybe some of the American players could name the tune for me.

Ok, I know this is an older post, but it stuck in my mind and I had to search and search until I found it. The song is called "The Girld I Left Behind Me" and they do play it while doing a marching band snare drum walk (or how I describe it). I found a great site that has all old war tunes and tunes of their era in MIDI form that is also downloadable. I hope this helps.
