Alright, people, here's your summary! Never let it be said I don't work hard on these, because that one was a lot more difficult to write. You simply have a lot more material when you're secretly evil. I managed to put together something I'm pretty happy with, especially for what's likely my last summary. After three games mysteriously exploded, I'm just not likely to play another KTC-moderated mafia game, because chances are he will just leave it hanging again when he gets bored. Now it is his good right to get bored and I'm not saying he should do something he doesn't want to, but at least writing a short post that he doesn't want to continue these games would have been nice. Or helping out yulli, who took over the games, by telling what peoples' roles are. HKO was revived because tenkido was the only person who never replied with his role, but Numbers wasn't so lucky, and things are really not looking good for it.
Anyway, with that said, have a summary. Film-noir style, because I promised myself I'd try to do this if I ever landed a detective role, and guess what? I did.
Night One: Arrival
It was a dark and stormy night when I arrived at the Green and Greens Guild. I'd been assigned there to deal with the threat of saboteurs sabotaging the second attempt at creating this peaceful farm - the only thing remaining from the first attempt now was a smoking crater I'd taken a look at before. That the situation was a dire one, nobody needed to explain to me - after all, if they'd been given a choice, I wouldn't be here now. With a criminal history like the one I had, I was the last anybody'd suspect to be an undercover cop. Heck, I wouldn't suspect myself if I didn't know better! But as the Green and Greens management had said, they needed someone with exerience in this field and that I had lots of experience here couldn't be denied, even if my experience came from the other side of the law. I didn't mind. It was a chance at a legal existence and I took it.
They'd assigned me a watchdog, obviously. Probably some goodie-two-shoes rookie who'd bark at me every time I didn't wait for the green light to cross a road. I just hoped he'd have
the good sense to stay out of my way.
I made my way to the building assigned to me - for some reason, it resembled a giant corn -
and entered. Inside, a young man who slightly resembled a tuna was sitting, he'd obviously waited for my arrival.
"Ah, you must be Ofi_Junior." he said.
"I take it you're the other cop, then?"
"Oh, no. I'm your secretary, Konrad Theodor Christoph Alexander Oliver Pearson."
"We usually just call him KTCAOP, or KTC for short, at the office.", a voice well know to me said and the person belonging to it entered the room. "We meet again, Ofi."
"Shevz." Now that was a pleasant surprise. She certainly was a goody-two-shoes, having broken more nails than laws in her life, but we'd met before. She'd always been a strong opponent and chances were good she'd prove to be a formidable ally as well. "Fancy meeting you here. Got in trouble or what are you doing in this hole?"
"Who cares about that? I'll be okay if we get this case solved, so the earlier we get this done with, the earlier I can go back to the city. KTC has provided a list of all known residents for us. I'd like you to read through it and tell me if you notice anything."
There certainly were several names I knew from back in the days. Jiko had been a talented assassin, I never thought he'd take up farming. LuvizBlind, the master of stealth and disguise, was a bit more likely to settle down. Nick152, once the silent menace but he'd seemed to lose it during the GF incident, so maybe he just wanted to do a bit of farming to calm his nerves. Mirrorenn, interesting, if any maimed corpses turned up, I'd certainly know who to have a talk with. Tenkido "The Sparkle", seducing women left and right, was here as well, never knew him as a big nature lover, unless said nature involved taking an extended walk with a nice-looking girl, if you know what I mean. And then there was... Gaia197. Now that name I knew. Dangerous woman, if you were on opposing sides, I'd felt her wrath once before. She certainly had a touch of evil to her as well, so all was possible. Shevz agreed with me that she was a high-priority person to investigate and after catching a few hours of sleep we set out to do so, leaving KTC to watch the office.
When I turned around to close the door, I saw a hastily scribbled note pinned to it. I grabbed it and read
I hope you get this message in time. I don't know if I can trust you, but this is likely my only chance. There are saboteurs in this guild and I was warned that I will be their first victim. They're planning on kidnapping all of us to take over the guild. If there is anything you can do to help me, please do!
Day One: Gaia
"Might be a trap." Shevz suggested as we set off.
"Might be, but do you really want to take that risk? Besides, it's not like her."
"I know. Let's hurry."
We arrived at Gaia's house shortly before sunrise. It looked dark, and the door was busted open. Swearing, Shevz ran inside. No sign of Gaia. It appeared we were too late.
"Look over there!" Shevz whispered. There was a scrap of paper on the floor that said "WARNING". At the wall next to it, someone had pinned three pictures - an old man with an eyepatch and a red dog, a Hello Kitty sticker and a snowboarder. "What do you think this means?"
I sighed. "It means we've stumbled onto the frigging da Vinci code..."
The guild was in an uproar when they found out one of them had been kidnapped. Everyone was wildly shouting accusations. As expected, I was named as one of the possible suspects. Shevz suggested we keep a close eye one the two people - Skylore and Drangel - who'd mentioned my name, it was as good a lead as any we had.
During this confusion, I felt someone tug at my sleeve. When I recognized Mirrorenn, I followed him to a quiet spot. "What is it, Mirror? Feel like continuing our stabbing fight?"
"Better not, with all the stuff going on here. Listen, I don't know where you're standing with this, but I just wanted you to know, this is not my work. I'm just here for the giant vegetables."
"I know. Not nearly enough blood. Don't worry, it wasn't me either. Mind keeping an eye out for anything suspicious?"
So there was one potential ally. Of course, it was possible he was trying to trick me, but Mirror'd always been more of a stabby type and less of a sneaky type. Like with Gaia, I was pretty sure I could trust him here.
The mob found nick guilty and he silently left the town. He'd been a regular citizen, of course. They never get one on the first day, it's rule number one in the business. Skylore had gotten more than a few votes in, but was unexpectedly saved by everyone turning on nick. We added LuvizBlind to our list of possible suspects and underlined marubadtz. While yulli had started the voting on nick, it was unlikely for a saboteur to do so.
Night Two: Short Notice
Drinking coffee and staring at our notes proved to be a pretty boring business. Having an assistant was proving to be really useful, KTC kept all of our notes on everyone well organized. I really considered handing over my personal observations to him as well, but secrecy has sort of become a habit for me over the years and you can't teach an old dog new tricks. We decided we'd investigate LuvizBlind and went out for a walk after asking KTC to dig out some files on her before he went to bed.
"Speak of the devil." Shevz said as we turned a corner. LuvizBlind was having a dispute with some other citizens.
"But you voted for nick, who was innocent!"
"Well, I'm innocent, too! If CERTAIN DETECTIVES would just LOOK INTO THAT MATTER, they'd see that! I could really HELP THEM OUT, you know? Maybe evne LEAD that dang investigation!"
The discussion went on for a while, but it just repeated itself after some point.
Shevz was the first to speak. "So... you think she might be the Guild Leader?"
"There is a slight chance, yes."
We made our way to Luv's house to check for possible clues, when Shevz suddenly pointed out that we were really wasting our time here and we'd probably be better off investigating Skylore. We didn't find any clues about his involvement with the mafia, but that doesn't always mean something.
Day Two: The Saddest Little Saboteur
The kidnapped person this time around was LuvizBlind, who certainly was the Guild Leader. Why she didn't protect herself was anyone's guess. Drangel kept pointing at me and yelling "Evil Ofi! Evil Ofi!", but everybody kind of ignored her, so I wasn't really worried. She sure seemed awfully persistent with that joke, might be worth looking into. Anyway, marubadtz was in trouble for making an error with the farming calculations and we were pretty sure she was a saboteur, so she was voted out. She broke down crying about how they forced her to do this really soon, it was very sad to see. I really hope we can reform her.
Skylore actually seemed pretty harmless, so Shevz approached him and talked a bit with him. We'd gotten lucky with marubadtz, but we needed allies badly. We were doing pretty good with guessing who the saboteurs were, though, with Jikokabe and Drangel both on our suspect lists for suspicious voting behavior, there were only two unknowns left.
