Account Theft

In the past few weeks we have seen an extremely high incident of account theft. We have been talking to the people involved, but have not found a common thread which we could clearly identify as the source of the problem.

Here are some of the issues we have seen:

Phishing Sites.
We have shut down 2 high quality phishing sites in the past few weeks. We suspected that these may have been used to get account information. As a reminder, you should always check the url from any link, and you should only login if the domain is X.AeriaGames.Com Do not be fooled by domains like X.AeriaGames.Y.Com or X.AeriaGamea.com or X.AeriaGames-Y.Com etc.

Virus/Keyloggers
There are several new virus/keyloggers out there that are specifically feeding databases for gameing theft. We do realize that people often re-use usernames/passwords, and that if it was stolen for one game, it can be used for another. The best way to avoid this problem is to slightly vary this combination for each game, as they usually use a script to check if it works, and even a slight change will defeat this.
Note: Public Warning

Powerleveling/Gold Buying
We have seen a correlation between the people that use these services, and those that have their accounts compromised at a later date. Do NOT ever give out your username/password. Do NOT ever download chat clients or such from sites. Do not ever install any plugins or applications from these sites.

Hacking
Installing an application that is used to bypass the security on another program... isnt this a self described recipe for disaster?

As some of you are aware, accounts have been recently compromised, and used by goldsellers. This means that when we become aware of this, we lock the account, and there may be 'extra' cleanup required before we can restore your service. We try to be understanding of these issues... but the bottom line is that you are responsible for security of the account, and if the account is damaged beyond repair, you may not get it back, or it may come back in a condition that is unusuable.

Please try to take all reasonable steps to avoid these problems, so that you never have to deal with your account being stolen.

Ouch, I feel sorry for those that ever have to deal with this... I've been a victim of similar happenings before, its really horrible to deal with.

Thank you for the warning though, its touched even our little but strong community at Turf Battles.

Though, admittedly, if you're hacking, or trying to hack, and your account gets stolen, what other should really be said besides "Told ya so" ?

Which is actually a GOOD thing. The last thing that you want happening to your account is someone messing it up bigtime while they try to see what happened to it.

there is a person going around pretending to be [GM] Krash and telling people they have to give him their username and password so they can check that you didnt break the rules.

he threatens to ban you if you do not give him your details.

If anyone suspects they have a virus/keylogger I advise you scan your computer. I perferably use AVG (anti-virus) and MalwareBytes (Malware detector) they are completely free and can be found here:

AVG Anti-Virus FREE

(Note: If you already have a anti-virus do not download another. They would interfere with each other and it will not end well. So, just use your current Anti-Virus or uninstall it COMPLETELY and then install AVG)

MalwareBytes Malware detector

The scans may take a while but it's worth it to know you're safe.

Hope this helps!

I think most people are tempted to find "hacking programs" and end up downloading a virus....

For example: If you search Lastchaos on youtube then you will get a few "hacking LC videos" in the first search results.....

Some of these videos show (fake) ways to "create gold" by visiting a site and giving them your account info or downloading a program....

or when you google lastchaos, the first results you get are scam or malware sites....
