The "Waiting......" Game

Possible Problems and Solutions
Many people have been having this problem. It says "Waiting......" in the lower-left corner of the launcher when it is run, and you are sent here by the launcher. I have provided an image so you can see what this error actually is.

This is definitely much more common than one would think, and this post is hopefully going to help people realize how they could easily fix this issue. There are three possible reasons you will be getting this error.
----------
Administrator
You have to make sure you are an Administrator on your computer. There is a very easy way to check your account's level, whether it's a Limited User or Administrator account.

First, open the start menu. For all operating systems before Vista, it simply says "Start" in the lower left corner of the screen. Otherwise, it's just a blue circle with the Windows icon. When you open it, go to "Control Panel" and open it. For Vista and Windows 7, there is a section entitled "User Accounts and Family Saftey" if you are viewing by Category and not in Classic view. Otherwise, for all other views and Operating Systems before Vista, it simply says "User Accounts." Open that, and there should be something there that tells you the Account Name, the Account Level, and if it is or isn't Password Protected. If it says "Administrator" then this is not the issue. Otherwise, that would be the problem as to why Wolf Team is not running properly.

Registry Error
When Wolf Team is installed, a registry value is added for the version of the game. If this does not match the value in the configuration files in the Wolf Team directory, it will cause problems for the user/gamer. There is a simple fix for this if you are technologically savy. If you are not, check the end of this little guide.

Open the start menu as detailed above. If you are running Vista or Windows 7, you can simply enter into the search bar "regedit" to open the Registry Editor. It will prompt for Vista/7 users if you wish to proceed, simply accept. If you are running Windows XP or earlier, open the Program List, go to Accessories, and open the Command Prompt. When there, type in "regedit" and press enter. That will also open the Registry Editor.

Now, if you are running a 64-bit operating system, like Vista 64 or Windows 7 64-bit, then you will need to go to the following directory in the Registry Editor: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Aeria games/WolfTeam. If you are not on a 64-bit Operating System, you will need to simply go to the same location without the "Wow6432Node" directory. It should look something like the following image.

The "Version" value would need to match the value of the game itself. If you download the game from the main site, using Aeria Games' Download Manager, the value is stated in the latter parts. That is the recommended site to download from, mind you, so I suggest you download it from there. If you just downloaded the game from there, make sure the value matches the one below.

Corrupt, Missing, or Quarantined
Sometimes, a program that is installed may not completely install specific files. I have done some testing and discovered one file that will cause this error, and I may continue to experiment to find more files that, if missing or corrupt, would cause this error. ere is the current list of files I have found:

Wolf.xfs

If that is the case, there are only two solutions to this error. First, and perhaps more difficult, is to locate and download the files that can cause this error. This can end badly, as there can be viruses in the download and the file may not be the exact file you are looking for - The version could be off. If you do not want to do searching, lucky for you, there are two more possible solutions.

Quite simply, make sure that any antivirus programs, like AVG or Spyware Doctor, are not blocking or quarantining the files. For AVG, you can enter the Resident Shield, go to "Manage Exceptions" and add the folder, usually "C:\Aeria Games\WolfTeam", to the exceptions - Easiest way is to add it as a list with that the only exception. For others, I suggest you do a search on "[Program Name] Adding Exceptions" or something related, without the quotes.

Solutions
First: Make sure you are on an Administrator Account. Otherwise, it won't update or connect properly. If you are running Vista or Windows 7, make sure you are running the Launcher as an Admin - Right click, select Run as Administrator.

Second: Make sure the registry value for the Version matches the one I posted if you downloaded from Aeria. I would do the others, but that would take a bit of time.

Updated Version: 312 (0x00000138)
Installer Version: 296 (0x00000128)

Third: Make sure nothing is blocking any of the programs or files, including the launcher, are not blocked or quarantined by any programs.

Finally: If you have used all of your previous solutions, there is one last possibility. Re-download the launcher from a different mirror and completely re-install the game from scratch. Uninstall and re-install the game.

I hope this sheds some light on this little annoying issue we get randomly and a lot. Please, refer to this post, reply if you have any problems with this, and I'll see what I can do.
