Alright, so lately I've got the feeling that many people can't tell easily whether the problem they have happens with the downloader or the installer.
Then we get into complicated situations where people give someone solutions for a problem which isn't the one they're having.

So I took some time to watch somewhat closely how the whole thing works and, more importantly, how it looks at each "stage".

For those who want "quick" answers, here is already what comes out of that "examination".

Basically :

* if the program's window looks like this :

then you're in the Downloader.

* if the program's window looks like that :

then you're in the Installer.


Now, let's see how things are supposed to happen, when you use the downloader :


Downloader, step One : License Agreement.



As you can see, the license agreement itself isn't about Last Chaos but about the Akamai Netsession Interface... that is the Downloader.
Also, you may notice the typo in the window title : the "o" from "chaos" is missing.


Downloader, step Two : Asking for download location.

Once you've accepted the license agreement for the Akamai Netsession Interface and before it starts downloading the real installer, you'll be asked for where to download the installer :



Well, that would be an improvement over the previous versions of the downloader, if only it actually did download the installer there.
In fact, it will always download to your desktop, ignoring what location you specified at that step.


Downloader, step Three : Doing stuff...

Then you should see something like this for a few seconds :

Alright, let's suppose everything is fine with your firewall and internet connection : the download shall start soon, the window looking for a very short time like below :


and then, after a short while, more like this :




Downloader, step Four "bis" (optional) : let's have a look at what's happening in the background...

So, if the installer is currently being downloaded, you must have a little time to look around your PC.

If you have set your explorer to display hidden files, then you probably noticed a file appearing on your desktop :


Also, if you open your Control Panel, you may have a new icon (though sometimes it may not appear ?_?), dedicated to the Akamai Netsession Interface (you remember you accepted a license for that, right ?... don't tell me you didn't even read it >.<)



Installer, step One : License Agreement — the "real" one.

OK, now let's say your download finished successfully.
The downloader will launch the installer, its window will close on its own and be replaced by the following :



You will of course need to agree to the license to continue.


Installer, step Two : Greetings



Not much to say about this either, just click next.


Installer, step Three : Options



Not much to say again, choose what you will and click "Next".


Installer, step Four : Installation Path



Choose where to install the game.
Be aware that you will need at least 2.5 GB on the selected drive.


Installer, step Five : Installing !

OK, now the installer shall finally extract the game's files to where you specified at step Five :



If you click the "Show details" button, you'll see something like that :



and eventually that :




Installer, step Six : confirming installation.

If everything went fine, the installer's last window should appear like this :




If you made it this far, then the game shall be properly installed : like my boss would say, "Good job !"

BUT you still may have to allow LC.exe (the game's launcher/updater) and Nksp.exe (the game client itself, inside the BIN folder of where you installed the game) to access the internet in your firewall's settings.

Alright, now if for some reason you are stuck somewhere between these steps, would you mind to use the proper terms (downloader or installer depending on the case) and, why not, at which step precisely things seemed to go wrong ?
This would help us people to help you guys :}

I'm stuck between step 2 and 3 and while the information you have given is helpful, I do not have the sub-folders mentioned in the Akamai folder. However, I do have that folder (Akamai) it is empty. My "Downloader" is stuck initializing.

Ive done all those steps and the down loader stays blank and doesnt download anything... after the first lisence agreement
