On an opening note, I'd like to say right off the bat:
Don't do it.
And to reduce any confusion in the future: There is no actual 'Marriage' implemented in the game Shaiya, it is all symbolic. There are
no benefits to it.
There is, however This Wedding Package available for 3500 AP containing:
- (2x) Name Change Stone
- Valentine's Ring [male]
- Valentine's Ring [female]
- (2x) Great wine
- (10x) Love Firecracker
- (2x) Red Rose
Now that I've gotten that out of the way, lets move on to getting married in Shaiya.
To start off, you will need to find a person who is willing to marry you (
I'm still trying to convince Avyn, it's a lot harder than I initially thought).
Make sure that you both have similar expectations from the relationship before you decide to take any further action. (
All I want from Avyn is someone to cuddle 
)
Good reasons behind getting married include, but are not limited to: Bromance, Grinding Duos, Valentines Day, Desperation, and True Love (if that's even possible
).
As a note of Caution, remember,
THIS IS A GAME. If you would actually be hurt emotionally by an in-game 'divorce' later, you might want to reconsider the marriage. In fact, if you get sadness at all from playing a game, it is probably in your best interest to reconsider playing.
Luckily for me, no one likes me, so I don't have to worry about all this stuff
So, you've finally found that ideal partner!

Let's move on to the fun stuff, planning the wedding:
There are
4 major things you need to consider when you are getting married:
- Attendance / Invitations:
If you want this marriage to be a big event, it would be best to make a thread in Shaiya General Discussion on the forums well before you actually have the ceremony. This will give forum Lurkers such as myself plenty of warning. It may also be worth it to make profile comments on people's profiles, especially your closer friends.
Make sure that once it gets closer to the wedding day that you remind people in Trade Chat, Guild Chat, and maybe even the Shaiya ShoutBox on the forums.
Also, not to state the obvious, but! Remember to TELL people where the wedding will be located!!! It would be terrible if you got all the way up to the wedding day just to realize you hadn't set a location for the event 
- Who will be taking on the various Roles in the ceremony?:
Priest: This is a big role. This person should be both a fast typer and they should be reliable. You cannot have a marriage without a priest, so make sure that he/she will be in attendance. Also, make sure the priest knows what he/she is supposed to be saying! Don't leave it up to them do decide what to say unless you trust them and they are aware of the fact that they have to make their own script.
Bridesmaids: Since this is Shaiya, the Bridesmaid doesn't really have much responsibility other than to plan a 'Bachelorette Party' if desired and a 'Bridal Shower' which I suppose would be a good way to make a little gold from the wedding eh?
Best Man: This guy doesn't have much responsibility either other than to plan a 'Bachelor Party' if wanted. I'm not sure that these parties would really work on Shaiya, but its up to you, it's your wedding.
Flower Girl?: Yeah, I can't really see how this would work.
Ring Bearer?: You might want to assign someone to hold the rings for the wedding, again, just make sure it is someone that you trust to show up.
Game Master?: All the cool weddings have a GM in attendance. Make sure to spam GMs every time you see them in ShoutBox and/or leave them profile comments to try and get them to attend. You might even want to assign them a big role such as the priest, that way they are forced to show up or they will feel like a jerk! 
GMs are always nice to have around for random drops and mob spawns after the Ceremony is over
- Will there be Videos/Pictures?:
If you want videos and/or pictures during the wedding, you should try to find the person with the fastest computer to do the video for the best quality. With pictures, you just need to find someone who doesn't disconnect much when subjected to lag.
- Honeymoon?
No comment.
On an almost-final note:
There will be a lot of lag at the wedding due to the possibility of a large number of people and fireworks. You can reduce the load on your computer by turning your graphical settings to minimum and maybe even focusing your camera on your feet during the wedding. What could be more embarrassing than disconnecting during your own wedding!?
On that note, I'd also like to say that you should
NOT expect the ceremony to go exactly the way you planned. There are always disconnects, there are always people (
like Luxai) who talk & '/yell' during the ceremony even after the priest requests silence, and of course, there will always be some naked guy that runs up and says 'I object' at some point. Just try to enjoy yourself! It's a game after-all
