I have run WolfTeam on WindowsXP 32bit with no problems. Upgraded to Windows7 64bit. It is my belief that it doesn't matter which system (so long as it is XP and up), people may or may not have this issue regardless. I really do not think it is a matter of setup, but moreover a matter of TIME before the problem happens to someone else. Here is a run-down of my experience:
Fresh install on my computer. First thing I installed was WolfTeam (approx 7/16/2009). Ran fine. Had the issue begin today, 7/19/2009 - GameGuard Authentication would fail after a certain time period, whether I was in-game, or in server list, it did not matter. After about 5 minutes, I would get a notification that GameGuard Authentication would fail, and click OK. Wait a few seconds, another window would open, click OK, and then the game would quit.
I followed the advice on page 1 of this topic (EDIT - NOT THIS TOPIC, THE TOPIC THIS POST ORIGINALLY CAME FROM). I will now review the steps I took to solve this problem:
1.)Restart computer. Do not open the game launcher when computer boots.
2.)Open the Process List, and ensure that any and all references to anything named "GameMon" or any variation thereof is killed at the process level. To do this, press CTRL + ALT + DEL, and a window should pop up called TASK MANAGER. The alternative is, on some computers, you may get an entire splash screen with some options. The one you want is START TASK MANAGER. Then, click the PROCESS LIST tab. This is what you should be looking at :
3.)Ensure GameMon (GameGuard Game Monitor) is killed at the process level. Click GameMon, then click Kill Process.
4.)Open your WolfTeam folder. I believe the default installation path put it to C:\AeriaGames\WolfTeam. That may just be my computer, yours may be elsewhere. Continue to Delete the GameGuard folder.
When I went through this process, one of the files named, npgg??.des did not delete (in use by another person or program). You may or may not have this happen, but even though it did not delete, I continued on to step 5 and had no problems. If you have more than one file remain, recheck that you have restarted your computer, have not attempted to start WolfTeam, and that the process list does not contain any open process called GameMon. If you have files that insist on remaining on your computer, please reply back with their proper file names as I believe these files are the problem.
5.)Open the WolfTeam Launcher now that you have deleted the files. Login. The GameGuard box should load up, and begin downloading a small number of files at the top left. It is redownloading the files you deleted with up-to-date, and hopefully uncorrupted replacements.
Please note that I am NOT affiliated with AeriaGames in any way, and that the deletion of any or all of your files are done at your own risk, and neither I nor AeriaGames are responsible for any damage done if you follow my walkthrough.
This is a solution that has worked for me under the conditions described and under Windows7. This may or may not be a solution to everyones problem, and this may or may not BE your problem. Follow these instructions at your own risk.
With that being said, it is my understanding that deleting the GameGuard files won't harm anything, as they are not vital to your systems operation, and are just redownloaded anyway the next time you try to login to WolfTeam. I only hope to help, and hopefully I may even get stickied if more people have this problem and my solution helps em
See you in-game!
