I have seen many posts in the forums and the shoutbox asking "why can't I connect to this game" or "why is my MS so high". So Here is a small guide to possible reasons on why you can't connect.
1. You are behind a firewall
1a. If you are using windows firewall check your exceptions list (located by going to start -> control panel ->windows firewall -> exceptions tab)
1b. If you are running another firewall, make sure that Wolf Team is on the exceptions list.
1c. try disabling your firewall
1d. sometimes even disabling a firewall will still have it running in the background, ONLY IF YOU HAVE A COPY OF YOUR INSTALLATION, try uninstalling your firewall
2. An anti-virus program is interfering with the Wolf Team.
1a. try disabling your anti-virus
1b. sometimes even disabling an anti-virus will still have it running in the background, ONLY IF YOU HAVE A COPY OF YOUR INSTALLATION, try uninstalling your anti-virus
3. Your internet is too low-speed/wireless.
3a.If your internet is does not have a high enough speed you will lag. This game is different from other games in the fact that is uses more of your connection.
3b. Some users may experience lag or connection spikes on a wireless connection.
3c. your ISP (Internet Service Provider) is throttling your connection. Check here to see if you are throttled: http://newteevee.com/2008/04/02/5-ways-to-test-if-your-isp-throttles-p2p/
4. A third party program is conflicting with Wolf Team or Game Guard.
4a. end all un-needed programs
4b. press ctl + alt + del -> go to the processes tab -> End all programs that you know you don't need (keep Local Service, Network service, System, explorer.exe, rundll32.exe)
5. Your modem/router is blocking the ports that wolf team needs to use
5a. (potential security risk
) see if your modem and/or router has a DMZ (Demilitarized zone) that will open all ports
6. Your OS does not support Game Guard
6a. as far as I know Game Guard does not officially support windows 7
It has been suggested that wireless has been causing connectivity problems. You can try these steps posted by menno82
note: make sure you are in classic mode on your control panel
"for Windows XP do this :
disable Window's XP Zero Configuration service using
control panel > administrative tools
For Windows Vista
use WLANOptimizer to disable the wireless checks every 1 min
( same as Window's XP Zero Configuration service )
get it from here :
( Run As Administrator )
For Windows 7 do this :
Download Vista Anti-Lag form here :
install it and run it as Administrator
Ps : it worked for me so i hope i works for you also
Btw : for Win Vista you can also use Vista Anti-Lag ofcourse"
Here are a few new links to solve problems you may be having. (note some of these are possibly outdated, but they are the best we have right now.
