Just like in real life, it is a somewhat witness protection program. Say you have two neighbors. One is doing illegal things. The good neighbors next door report it to the police. The police come out and make the arrest because the good neighbors provided proof on surveillance or sufficient data. What do you think will happen to those good neighbors if the police reveal to them who reported them to get arrested? And what about those thug gang members who are in cahoots and still walking the streets when they find out who got their bro locked up? Lots of stuff that could put an innocent citizen and/or their property in danger, no doubt.
Let's put this in digital terms. Suppose someone reports someone else for doing illegal things in game. That player gets a ban. When their ban is lifted, they have the potential to attack, harass, and do all sorts of malicious things to the player who reported them. This is why AGE does not disclose anything about who reported the wrong doing. It is to ensure safety to the players and their accounts. It helps them to NOT be a target for retaliation when they are just doing their digitally civic duty to report rule breakers for whatever reason without repercussions.
If there was a ban, it was probably for a good reason if you got an e-mail. If you didn't get an e-mail, then send a ban appeal, stating your case that you didn't do anything. It could be that they saw suspicious activity on your account and they're locking it to investigate to prevent further damage.
LASTLY: Bans on forums
The reason you were banned is STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL between you and the GM team. It is not for others to get pulled in. Personal business stays in personal spaces.
