Solution to the botting/macro farming.

As much as I'd hate to see it: captchas. I mean, seriously annoying, botproof captchas that annoy the **** out of players.

They would need to be functional ONLY when you're on a world map and ONLY when you've actually attacked something in the last 3 minutes (reflect and pet attacks shouldn't count, no reason to stop people from afk farming with pets), as well as some other features to reduce abuse.

It'll get abused like anything and everything because humanity sucks as a whole, but you can put a cooldown or something to reduce the damage to real players.

They must make all their profit off of bots then, if they're that opposed to doing something that actually works.

It would not be hard to implement a script that can predict whether a player is a bot or not, using various data sources.

instead of generic captcha, maybe they should opt for reCAPTCHA, if that's possible to add.

Demand, for starters. Many botters do also spend on games, you know, look how many people bot p2p games.

Botting is not only a source of afk income but exp too. Sometimes they want stuff fast; and if they think or know they won't get banned, they may spend - I've seen many f2ps that only do 3 day bans for botting, so you can just bot til caught..lol.. and you might get overlooked if you cash enough (See Rohan)

Captchas can be detected by bots, if they aren't good. Recaptcha tends to work a lot more. The best captchas tend to be pretty unreadable to actual humans.

Edit: and of course, the bots might be manned by a gold farmer or semi-afk player who can recieve alerts to plug the captchas in manually.
