This may turn into a long reply, if it is I apologize.
I'm 36 years old, I started my good ol days playing video games from the atari 2600. I went from systems like NES, Super NES, Sega Genesis, Sega Dreamcast, Sony Playstation, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Xbox360.

Now I never understood why Microsoft made you pay to play online with your friends. PC games you could for free, using voice chats like vent, mumble, etc.. and same with Playstation 3, it was free to play with your friends as long as you had an internet connection.

Consoles today, in my opinion are getting away.....faaarr away from doing just one thing, one thing that is all I need it to do...and that is just to play games. I do not need twitter, I do not need facebook, I do not need netflix, I do not need always on. All I want is to put my game in and play it. Now I don't mind having a friends list on both xbox and playstation, but all the other things they add, just aren't for me. As I said, let me just get to my friends list or the game menu, that's it.

So...let me get this straight. Co-op games are now going to have to cost extra to play if let's say, you bought a 2 player co-op game and you want to take it to your friends/girlfriends/boyfriends/brothers/sisters/cousins/whoever house to play, and they want you to shell out some extra cash if they don't have it just to play it with them? Making the game download only to your hd for one, takes time, secondly it will take up space and before long your hd will start getting full. Not only is this stupid, you can't even trade games with your friends if they have a game you want to try that you do not or vice versa. What if your friend or whoever simply wants to borrow it to try the game out for themselves before they buy it or what if they or you want to rent it for that simple fact before buying?

This applies also to the above paragraph...You can buy used games...but you have to pay an extra fee to play them. With the economic conditions that some countries are in right now, me being from the united states, you would think corporations would be more...customer friendly. These moves right here to me, should be illegal. It's punishing us as consumers and restricting us on what we can and can not do with our products we buy. It's not right. After we buy said product, it is our right to do whatever we want with it, heck we could buy a bad game and use it as a drink coaster for that matter or for target practice. So Microsoft is now in the regulating video game industry?

I do NOT want a kinect nor do I even need one. So many bad reviews I have read in gameinformer about kinect games, also who the heck will want to spend their time waving their arms around in the air to do something in game when we have controllers? I get what they are trying to do, make us more active while playing games but too many times the mechanics aren't there and motion sensor is just sloppy. If I want to be active, I'll go outside and do something. Just let me enjoy my game sitting and relaxing. Also people may not have a large enough room to use a kinect.

Not backwards compatible. I can never figure this one out either. Both sony and xbox now are doing this. Nintendo Wii was the only system that let you play gamecube games but sony microsoft did not allow you to use the already owned game discs you had to play your favorite already owned games and it is STILL continuing. It's disgusting and bad business practice that are forcing us to either a.) download already said owned game to play it usually for a fee or b.) sell it or trade it in for new games. Now for some people this may not be a big concern because they will use already owned games towards a trade in for a reserve or for a new game. But we spend a lot of money on our games and games we like we may want to go back and play them. It's just not right.

All in all the video game industry has been struggling for some time. All these microtransactions, dlcs for games that aren't really necessary, costs going up and adding more limitations for us as consumers is not a good idea. Whoever the people in the video game industry now think these are good ideas need to be fired. I'm more inclined to go back to cartridge based systems like the NES, Super NES or sega genesis or even the playstation 1 or 2 or sega dreamcast where I can simply put my game in and just play. I know the graphics may not be stellar or anything but at least with those systems that's when I had the most enjoyable memories of all the great games I was able to play with either myself, a friend or family member. Now gaming is more of a luxury, not a fun hobby like it used to be.
My thoughts exactly.

How anyone in the Micro$oft boardroom could not think 'hang on a moment, won't this drive away all our customers?' is simply beyond me. This is nothing short of pure undeniable idiocy.

Someone needs to be shot.... then pay for the cost of the gun and bullet they got shot with.

Just read Nornkitty's post. It is very well written and everything said is true.
It is sad that games are being sold in "parts" as "Downloadable Content". DLCs should be something extra, but in most cases you simply pay to download new expansions and quests/missions that should already be in the main game, without any additional fees.

As well mentioned, games are not backwards compatible, and that is ridiculous. I remember I could still play original PS1 games on my PS2, but I don't see the point why they removed the compatibility (hackers will find a solution anyway).
If you purchased PS3 games and you're going to buy a PS4, why should you buy the SAME game again, simply with a PS4 Tag on its disc and built-in compatibility? It would be understandable if those new PS4 Versions of the games actually had some free DLCs already pre-installed, as well as some special PS4-only content, but that already makes it a different game.

I also thought about something that will cause problems with the way this new system is headed and that is this...

Some people simply live in areas that do not have internet connection, cable, dsl or other ways of connecting, or what if all they can connect to is a very poor connection like a mifi from a cellular company which is not advised to use for online gaming either the connection is too poor and a lot of cellular companies do not have unlimited data.

Where I am going with this is a point to the used game fee fiasco. I would assume that when you buy a used game and pay a fee, it will be used with either a debit/credit card and needs that online connection. If someone does not have an online connection or a good connection period, I guess those people who buy used games are simply wasting their money.

Also if a game requires a patches, I wonder if these people will still be able to play the games if they are unable to get patches/updates etch... if above mentioned of lack of a internet connection or poor connection.

When I still had my Xbox360, I bought 3 DLCs. 1 was the vampire DLC for skyrim the other 2 were for Kingdoms of Amular. All 3 were boring due to the fact I had already beat the games, my character was either maxed level or so high and OP with the equipment I had. I can understand they want to have some kind of continuation with the game itself but if they do the game developers need to make these DLC's actually worth paying for and playing, make them longer and actually up to your characters level and reward us with something we could actually use. The Kingdoms of Amulars rewards for both the DLC's were weaker than what I was using from when I beat the game, Skyrims granted I got a new NPC that was better than what I was using.

Other than that, video game companies in my opinion are going more for quantity over quality these days. Very few games I have played on PS3 and Xbox360 I actually enjoyed. Halo series, Gears of Wars series, Uncharted Series, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Call of Duty Black Ops. I can tell you two bad games that I was really disappointed in and I got rid of, Marvel vs Capcom 3, Marvel vs Capcom 2 is better, my opinion and Ghost Recon Future Soldier. Video game industry is also lacking in originality just like hollywood is. How many more maddens, tiger woods, nascars, wwe wrestling, call of duty, need for speed, forza games are you going to keep making. FPS and sports games are flooding the market and the adventure rpg market is suffering. Please, it's time for something new.

True, you can find a bunch of different Shooters, whether 1st or 3rd Person perspective, Sci-Fi, World War II or Modern War, Realistic or Anime-Style - it's too much.
Same goes for Racing games: Action Racers, Racing Simulations, Karting Racers, all kinds can vary from realistic to anime/cartoon as well.

Far Cry 3 was great. The Story is good, and the way they designed their characters, their actions and the way they talked was just incredible. Just be his looks and way of talking you could figure that Vaas is a Psycho Genius. I did not get any of the DLCs, which would probably extend the game a bit more, but I didnt see the point if the main story has finished: Vaas is dead, Citra is dead, your friends successfully escaped the island - whats the point of new missions?

You gotta sign it up to the internet once every 24 hours, have to pay a fee to play a pre-owned game, kinect must always be on, and A LOT of useless gimmicks. Also no games. And I really wish I'm proven false on their E3 conference, I want to see GAMES not watch TV through my console when I can easily watch TV through, well, my TV.

Also I don't want to wave my hand like an idiot to switch between channels, I want to use a remote control for it. I think the kinect is absolutely useless.

Oh and I'm not even mentioning the always-online gamess, and CLOUD CLOUD CLOUD HURR DURR.

tl;dr xbox one is a waste of existence. There's absolutely no need for me to buy it when the PS4 is considered god-send compared to the One. and this is coming from a non-sony fanboy.

The only good thing about the One is the controller, the 360's controller was the best.
