By "look like Caergate", I was referring to the population imbalance. If there's a Mereholdt like area that's open world, and 2/3 of the people there are from one faction, it's going to be very difficult for players from the other faction to complete quests.

Not impossible, and yes, you'll have to party up more no matter which side you're on. But if the population numbers from Caergate are typical of the population as a whole, it is not going to be fun for RGs.

...

I guess perhaps I should clarify what I meant by they will look like Mereholdt. On the Free Knights side we have players in Mereholdt map who express no real interest in going to Caergate/only go there for 10-20 minutes for dailies then leave. We do have PvE players.
I am picking up on the sentiment in this thread that RGs do not so much have an overall population problem as a lack of population willing to PvP.

Caergate does not, and cannot, reflect the total population of both factions simply because there are some players who favour being there almost constantly, and some who never go.
FKs have enough people that favour being there almost constantly that, like myself, our Arkana is there even when we are not at the keyboard.
Besides that, I got to log my Shadow Walker only long enough to run my Caergate dailies and PvP a little bit yesterday; in that time the population ticker was 45%/55% and there was a group of about 7-10 RGs (none of whom were associated with Murmaider/Vix's guild) running a raid on our engineer escorts and, subsequently, Hera escort party.

When open-world maps come up, the players who are choosing not to go to Caergate because they do not want to PvP right now will no longer have that choice. They will either have to PvP or move with groups of PvPers as Free Knights PvE players do.

Maybe. It remains to be seen. Remember that you're increasing the incentive to grind from the people who are on the winning side in PvP. I'm not convinced that drawing them from PvP is a bad thing.

I just have to chime in on this; from about 25 onward in official release I leveled predominately through running the hourly BGs.
There is no incentive for me to grind yet; I even only run my mandatory quests if I need a bit of extra silver for potions or to warp back into Caergate after listing something at consignment.

If it could be guaranteed that an increase to exp and gold would mean more PvPers at the 29 cap on RG side then I would provide massive support. Right now I am getting the sense that it would just draw those RGs further away from participating in PvP before 29 because the increased gold and exp they would get from grinding instead is too appealing.

Yeah, I don't buy that at all. I'm pretty sure that the population of Caergate is representative of the population as a whole. There are people who like PvP who play as RGs and those who play as FKs. And there are people who prefer PvE who play as RGs and those who play as FKs. There's no reason to assume that the proportions of the two would be different based upon faction. Especially since as we all know by now, the only difference between the factions is the color.

So, if Caergate is generally 3:2 or 2:1 in favor of FKs, I would guess that's true not just in Caergate, but everywhere.

Naduron posted a video of the Queen's blade, and an attack by one faction on the other's city/base. It might have been in Nemesis. I don't recall, but it was definitely high level. And I noticed in the vid that just like in Aeria Caergate, the red faction outnumbered the yellows 2:1.

We have an overall population problem. Go into the club sometime, and count the number of FKs and compared to RGs -- there's a pretty dramatic difference.

The silly thing is that there is no real difference between the factions; just the names, the colors, and that initial description. But for some reason people overwhelmingly went Free Knights.

Some of it I can kind of see. #1, the RG colors are ugly -- our basic cyberskin is pale grey. The gold makes it better, but most players don't see that for a while. If we had something flashy on that first selection screen, that might help draw people in.

The second problem is the name. In the US at least, "Free" is better than "Royal", and a knight is at the peak of the warrior profession where a guard is at the very bottom of the barrel. And reading the descriptions, it seems like the choice is between reckless liberty and authoritarian order. I rolled RG when I realized that they had the exact same story, just because it seemed to me that the RG story was the 'finished one', but I did pick Free Knights first just because they look cooler and have a cooler name.

Now we're also getting to where the underdog effect is sapping out the faction. Every time a BG ends it's followed by 20 minutes of whining in shout, and Caergate chat is often full of complaints about the numbers. It's something that anyone who PvPs is aware of, and as new, cross-faction zones are introduced it's going to start sucking for the PvEers too.

Another weird thing, I realized today that the RG is very likely to have fewer cluster bombs in the BGs. Both sides have the same opportunities to get the clusters through daily quests, etc. But with the same 20 or so RGs queueing every time, we go to a lot more BGs; since I usually see about 60 FKs waiting, it's reasonable to assume that RGs go to 3 times as many BGs. So it's very likely that most of us have used all our clusters in any given BG, where the FKs just won't have had that opportunity.

And going to more BGs doesn't really help us on things like farming dogtags, since we're usually the ones getting farmed. I've been paying attention to what my lower level characters in more balanced BGs earn, and they get 4 to 5 times as many dogtags as my level 29 characters. Free Knights usually hits two towers in Janus while RG only hits one too.

All of that means that RG gets much less benefit at higher cost. You'd think that going to more BGs would help, but we're likely to get nearly nothing (except for loot from the boxes in the beginning) in BGs where we get farmed.

I did not see the video, if you could point me towards any such post; however, I find this insight rather intriguing.

I have never had any personal desire to visit the club; I will have to visit when I next get the opportunity and see how that may give rise to re-evaluation. Thank you for the compass. o:
I'm mostly just going by what I experience in PvP zones and gleaning from the forums at the moment.

I can't find the post. But the video was in my history, so here:

Watch the whole thing. Poor Naduron gets annihilated towards the end.

ok I will say this all one has to do is looks at the win loss for the Free Knights and the RG.
at lvl29 the Free Knights are just dominate part is because of RG not showing up or once the chest are open on turnpike they got their loot so they just leave. this leaves the remaining RG at a disadvantage.
add on top of that if the RG are getting their butts kick like we seem to normally do many will just sit or go hide till it is over.
end result it leaves the rest of us lemmings to just jump off the wall to our deaths and let the Free Knights have a blood bath in our blood. by the end of a lot of fight I have seen it to where it was 6 to 16 in a match in the Free Knights favor this does not make for much fun in pvp.
I can understand why so many just give up and not do anything. but like a good lemming I keep jumping in to the frey if only to at least get a few kills.
I don't know what can be done to help perhaps granting a buff when the numbers get off balanced like that. but what I do know if things don't change many will just refuse to even try pvp anymore. as I have said it is no fun constantly losing and when one side constantly loses guess what you lose peoples interest to even try.

On Andro, Free Knights's have no organization, so the moment Mur shows up everyone's running for the hills from focused burst fire.

At artillery range.

Hahaha! That is kinda true.

However that's what makes it so interesting in Andromeda though don't you think?

If not then the Free Knights's will be too overpowered.

Anyway, I actually enjoy being the underdog. Like some others have said, it gives you so much more satisfaction when we actually manage to secure a win. Hopefully, we will be able to do so without Vix and his gang one day.

White Dawn has been taking the lead in Caergate a lot too.

I respect what Vix and Murmaider do, but it's really not just them doing everything -- I usually see a metric buttload of randoms with them, and often another guild group with them.

What makes a difference is that they announce where they're going and what they're doing, so all the people who would just be doing their solo thing see that as an opportunity to hook up with a group instead of waiting around to get outnumbered and ganked.

Meh. For the most part I'm fine with the numbers as it is. Granted there's a very large number of players but save several exceptions (Kaji, Kablam, Roar, Succubus, Lub, Iterasai, etc), most of the FKs are just poor PvPers, and it's quantity over quality.

It also makes it more challenging and fun for me. I like a good challenge. FKs know how to use their massive number, and when they do, it makes Caergate a very..very..intense war zone lol.
