Well, Leo. You guys should be glad your servers are not operating out of my own Norway, as you'd have a trail of lawyers after you with this sort of advertising.

I am not opposing the game as such. If people want to get their rocks off with an ingame toon baring it all for $200, be my guest. The issue is you are advertising it on a site where minors are allowed. Whether that is temporary or not, is beyond the issue. You are pushing a sexually ladened game with sexually ladened ads on a site that allows minors. THAT's the issue.

My mom saw me playing SB during the alpha and she asked me "Do you want something to eat?"

So for me SB sure has a lot of nudity but when your character is fighting the mobs, the parents will think that you are just playing games.

Just want to clarify that for most of our adverts outside of aeriagames.com the ads are applied through analytic and adaptive targeting measures.

Simply put - if you're seeing the ads outside of our site, it's because your browsing history and search habits have been tagged as something relevant to Scarlet Blade.

I find it interesting that Friendship is magic related things, pg-13 at worst webcomics, and online games lead to softcore porn games.

In other words, I'm not buying it.

The good news is, it's a temporary push until the next new title comes in, or until we diversify the ads across multiple titles again. For example, EE received a big content patch recently, so we'll probably see some space dedicated to them again.

DWO is supposed to be going to the next scenario soon (within a month or so). Does that mean I'll see advertisements for that wherever I go?

Cause I'll be honest, that would be pretty awesome, and may convince me to put some money into the company.

The targeting system is not simply going to base it solely on your PG cartoon webpage. It will take into your browsing, search and mailing history. As Leo stated, the fact that you're encountering them means that there's a connection between Scarlet Blade and your Internet history.

Aeria Games and Free-2-Play MMOs appear to be in your history given that you play an Aeria Game, which is a F2P MMO and are currently using the Aeria forums.

If you're using Google, you can actually remove all targeting based ads if you'd like.

You'll receive completely random ads instead from all Google based advertisements. If they're using a different provider, you'll still get them.

We would live to spend BILLIONS in advertising... because we get paid to do that. However, the developer controls how much of their money we can spend. To date, no one has given us and unlimited budget.

The marketting constraints of the games we publish are usually defined in the contracts we sign with the developers. They usually see the benefit of heavily marketting the game when it is launched, and are less interested in investing more money later in the games life. Sometimes this changes, especially when they decide to refresh the product (major changes). A classic example of this would be when the Last Chaos developers decided to add major content updates, and revamp the zones.

Aeria Games is here to help developers bring their products to new markets. However, we have to do so at a cost that they agree too. When we ask for money for things like marketting, they get to decide how much, and when.

So in other words, KOEI were the people who were too stupid to think website ads would be a good idea since Day 1? Funny how that works.

Also, it's spelled Marketing. Not marketting.

As good a point as this is, it is still completely possible to make sure ads like this don't attract children who have no idea what it is, and they'll be happy to lie about their age to see what it is (and if CODs community is any indication, the parents don't care enough to prevent this). If it wasn't, I'm sure there would be a lot of people seeing porn ads on cartoon network.
