Well this has certainly piqued my interest, and why not throw my name into the hat as well.
I've been playing since October during open beta, and always has stayed in the Wu faction while serving an a guild officer in the guild Raw Legacy, so apologies in advance if most of you don't know me since I tend to *not* confront very often, if at all. Having that been said, there are also some additional qualities besides "I've played the game since XXXXX" or "I play on XXX server as well" (since most of us do anyways) which does indeed make a great GS but there's also additional qualities as well.
Previously, I worked for a big game company (which I won't name here) and served as a liason between the players and the studios which produced the game(s). Most of the time was spent talking to players, whether it was on the forums, twitter, facebook, etc and listening to them, getting feedback, answering questions, and just plain having fun and talking with them. I would also communicate any issues that players reported, bugs, exploits directly to the studio. (and yes I did play the games also while working, so I did get "paid to play")
Some other points handled while working were:
- contests and promotion verification/payouts
- patch notes
- game guides
- helping to plan events and contests
I believe all of those (including the list) are also good points for what a GS does/could do, with the exception of payouts of course. My time working in that position gave me some really good experiences and helped me connect with so many players, as well as the satisfaction that I was helping players with their issues or letting the studio know how players felt or bugs so the game could be fixed or adjusted.
In closing, thank you for taking the time to read this, and I'll see you guys on the battlefield.
(BTW: JP server had a patch so you can now battle the mystical turtle beast on Kunlun. Watch out, it uses ice.)
