Personally, the only reason I farm is cause it's the only thing to do on the weekday since the only thing anyone plays is confront.
If people don't play confront, they're farming, and get pissed when I wait around for a legit match.
Actually, no one cares what game-mode you play. If you want to play capture, go play capture.
If someone is seriously "getting pissed" when you're sitting in a game-lobby, then you need new friends, bro.
Maybe I should say "no one should care what game-mode you play." Even though I see way more "I hate Confront" posts than "I hate Capture" posts on the forums. People, on the forums at least, seem to care what game-modes other people are playing.
Trust me. I've sat through enough 30 minute waiting rooms to know that it simply isn't true. People pretty much only play confront, and those that don't are almost never on at the same time as other people, with the sole exception being campaign.
And god help you if it isn't on plains/stronghold/castle (FS only) (in order of availability).
As for the people getting pissed...they were pretty much randoms. When I asked why I was kicked out (5-8 minutes later), his excuse was I took too long.
Spending 15 seconds to get a better weapon out than your farm weapon is taking too long?
I think it's a Shu thing, I never had this problem before.
"I've sat through enough 30 minute waiting rooms to know that it simply isn't true." To know that what
isn't true? That most people don't like to play Capture/Defeat?
Something to keep in mind: Capture is to a "Confronter" as Confront is to a "Capture-er"
You think Confront is stupid/pointless? Most "Confronters" think the same thing about Capture/Defeat.
If you want to play capture, I suggest you join a guild that does "CP Training" or something along those lines. I sometimes check to see if there are any CP-type battles open, but they always seem to be Guild-Melees, so I can't join. If you want more people to do capture, make the matches open.
As for the "Shu thing," I have never ever had this problem - and I join CFs with my farm weapon equipped all the time. The only time I am ever kicked from a room is if the spot I took was reserved. Usually, in Shu, people are polite enough to tell you that before/after kicking you. It's one of the reasons why I still hang around in Shu. The people here are fairly polite, for the most part. Do you ever think: "Maybe it's me?"
Also, about the maps used for Confront:
Gate is too small and is just a rush-fest.
Forest sucks for almost every game-mode. Hard to flask there and the barricades get annoying quick.
Marsh is just a tad too big and results in people getting stuck fighting 1v2+ too often - since it's a circular map and there are no short cuts.
Island would be great if it were smaller.
Linked Ships has too many barricades and lacks open areas for people to fight in. When fighting in close quarters, it pretty much becomes a c3-spam fest or a musou-spam fest.
Mountain Range is way too big. Even though it is a cool map
Stronghold2 has too many barricades.
Wall, in my opinion, just sucks for confront. In my experience it just becomes a contest of who can flask the fastest.
River Port and Mountain Path are fine for Confront, though they are somewhat large maps. You need a good team to be successful here though, that's why most randoms wont touch these maps.
