really dont know what being western has to do with it?
Most people of the western online gaming community prefer to just do death matchs then other modes.
Take a look at a popular multiplayer game like Halo.
In the video where I started it at, it shows the types of game modes, and how many people are playing them.
All the game modes where the objective is to kill other players, are far more popular, especially free for all mode with 169k players playing it, team death match with almost 100k, and other different game modes where the objective is still essentially to kill players, still have around on average about 20k players.
Then look at the game modes like capture the flag where player kills arnt the main objective (Simular to our non-CF game modes) 17k people in CTF, 8k in Oddball, and a tiny 6k in King of the hill.... Not even those player numbers together are anyway close to death match numbers.
Now doing the maths, there are about 362k people in total playing at that time, 169k (which is probably about roughly 44% of the people playing) are playing free for all deathmatch, 179k people are playing other types of death match games (which probably makes up 48% of people) and then you have a total of 31k people playing non-death match types of games (which is like what 8%?)
Now compare their 362k active players to our.... I dont know, 150 active players a day <.<
92% people wanting to play Confront, 8% wanting to play other modes.... yeah.
And before anyone says, Yes I know Halo and DWO are two completely diffirent genres of games, but what all games have in familiar are there multiplayer game modes, whether there playing a Shooter game or a hack and slash game, there favorite kind of game mode will be the game modes where the objective is to defeat other live players.
Why do they like death matchs so much, I dont know, Id say a very common answer is pride, Im sure we all feel good when we defeat another player, we gain a bit of pride in ourselves, but what pride or sense of achievement is there to defeat an A.I. enemy, or capturing an objective location?
Now, before anyone bashs. No, I am not a confronter who hates the other game modes like most people on this game, I want to play more of the other game modes too. I always look for PvP games in SD, always play in CP, and even try some FS games when theres a good few amount of people online. But you have to face reality, the mass majority of gamers prefer to play the death match modes in games.
Anyway, my theory maybe wrong, but that's just my opinion on how I see the online gaming world, while there are a few of us who would prefer game modes that involve thinking and strategy. Most people prefer to just kill other players. Ill admit, it is more fun to fight players then securing an location, but in terms of DWO, confront is getting boring because I tend to just fight the same team weapon set up all the time (or just the same players, since our population is so small).
Like I said, Im probably wrong, I dont want to fight with anyone over this, feel free to correct me in areas if I am mistaken.
