Can't login

Please help! (Server screen)
http://i.imgur.com/TYVOheE.png

Problem:
Can't login. More specifically, I cant type in any characters in either the User ID or Password fields. I can't type ANYTHING. However, I was able to delete "GUNZ" in the User ID field by having my Num Lock key on and by pressing Del on my Numpad.

Information:
This is the first time I have installed GunZ since it was at ijji.
I had no problems creating a new password. All my logins worked at the site and in Ignite.
Firewall is turned off. Antivirus was also disabled for the time being.
Most of the old GunZ files were deleted to my knowledge. I can assume this was the same as a fresh install.
Updating went perfectly fine.

Additional Question:
Any more information on what the User ID and Password fields might be connected to? To be honest, I may have had this same problem on a very old version of GunZ a long while back, but I forgot how I fixed it at the time.

Any and all help will be very appreciated!

Try different screen size resolutions (Edit "Config.xml" in the GunZ folder), also be sure that you're not running any macro programs (I used to had a macro program to disable the left mouse button from ghostclicking, but when I went in game, it disabled the whole left mouse button completely).

So you are not able to type anything in the boxes? Weird, I've never heard of this problem before. Are you using an external keyboard for a laptop or something? Have you tried using another keyboard for the game just for testing reasons? The more info and patterns you can recognize, the better we can diagnose.

Rest In Peace GunZ

Thank you for replying! I'm using a traditional desktop keyboard. I don't have another keyboard to try, but I don't believe the keyboard is the problem.

I do know that my computer does not have Microsoft Office installed and also I cannot view or input foreign characters of languages other than the English alphabet. I have no other language packs installed, either.

There have been times in the past when I had to type something out in Wordpad or LibreOffice, then copy and paste it in the specific field. I don't know why that happens, but it has something to do with the type of field it is and the format of the type of characters it takes.

I'll be trying this method now and reporting back soon.

EDIT:

Before I do that... Should I delete gunz.exe from the installation folder? gunz.exe and update5.mrs were the last two files to be updated with the gunz updater. If there's a problem with the login screen, it would fall under gunz.exe, right?

That'd be the same as reinstalling, so go ahead if you think it'll help.

In regards to what pwn suggested, when you deleted "GUNZ" from the username field on the login screen, were you able to directly click the box then delete it from there? Not being able to click the box at all is really odd. Sounds like a resolution issue. Can you click the X? Press "X" on your keyboard and see if you get a message asking you to quit gunz? Try clicking different servers and the fields again.

You could try some other basic stuff like making sure your comp is updated, updating drivers, and making sure directx is updated.

Also make sure that background applications aren't getting in the way, and if you haven't tried alt tabbing might temporarily serve as a work-around for the issue?

Let us know how it goes!

Sorry, I had long hours at work today so I wasn't able to try much. However I have a little bit of information. I can click in the box. I can also move the cursor inside the username field inbetween each of the characters.

Example:

GUNZ|
GUN|Z
GU|NZ
G|UNZ
|GUNZ

Like that. Just pretend the | blinks.
I can click in the field, I just can't type for some reason.
Also, yes I can click the X to close the game. The only problem I'm having is not being able to type my username or password in the fields.

Do you know of any programs that would be an "all-in-one" solution for analyzing and updating the drivers in your system?

I'm sure you can find some, but just navigate to Device Manager from the Control Panel (Should be located under hardware), and right click an item, such as a video card, and search automatically for an update.

Anyway, as far as graphics card drivers go, this should help for AMD graphics cards:

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

Nvidia:

http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

-You can update via one of the links above or device manager.

Also, I asked you to click X on your keyboard to see if the keyboard was responsive at all while gunz was the foreground application. Not quite sure what the issue could be though.

Clicking the X symbol with the mouse allows me to exit GunZ. Pressing X on my keyboard does not. I also tried ctrl+v to paste my username/pass and that didn't work either.

Going to try a couple other things... Thanks for your help!
