[Guide] Items - Enhance, Graft, Certify, Seal, Rank, & More

[Updated: July 26]
Ok, so there's quite a few NPCs offered in SB that allow you to do all kinds of stuff with all kinds of items. It can be confusing at first, or you may not even realize they all exist. This guide covers:

    1. Certification/Performance Authorization
    2. Salvaging
    3. Enhancement
    4. Sealing
    5. Grafting/Cosmetologist
    6. Item Ranking Registration
    7. Randomization
    8. Amplification
    9. Synthesis/Transformation
    10. Pet Datachip Synthesis/Transformation

Please note that all NPCs talked about in this guide can be found at each major city: Enocia, Bitterstone Base, and a few at Caergate.

1. Certification/Authorization NPC - Items With No Stats
It's not uncommon that you will find an item like the following that just says "Item" and has no stats:

Don't worry, this item is not useless! It's just an uncertified item and you have to get it certified aka Performance Authorization.

To certify an item all you have to do is talk to the Certification NPC.
You will need a Laser Scanner as well:

Left - For Certifying Rare (Blue) Items
Right - For Certifying Unique (Gold) Items

The Laser Scanner for Rare Item Certification can be bought at any General Item Merchant or Point Vending Machine inside the Battlegrounds for 1g.
The Laser Scanner for Unique Item Certification can be obtained from Treasure Crates, the Item Mall, and Auction House/Other Players.
Rare Laser Scanners can also be obtained through Quests and the Battlegrounds.

      Certification NPC Interface:

      [ Before Certification | After Certification ]

2. Salvage NPC - Items You Don't Need
The Salvage NPC will allow you to dissemble equipment you don't want to produce useful items such as Passcard Packs, Hypovial Packs, Enhancement Shards, and other various items.

You can not Salvage General (Gray) or Magic (Green) items. You can only Salvage Rare (Blue).

      Salvage NPC Interface:

3. Enhancement NPC - Adding Stats to Items
Enhancing/Upgrading/Fortifying a piece of equipment or bike will add additional stats. (Enhancing a bike will add Speed.)
Rare (Blue) items are fairly easy to come by so it's recommended you save your required Enhancement Tools and not use them for Magic (Green) items.

In order to Enhance an item you will need an Enhancement Tool (Sliver/Shard/Gem):
Red/Crimson is used for Enhancing Weapons and Bikes.
Green/Emerald is used for Enhancing Armor.

      Both Rows, Left to Right:
        1. Base Stardust Sliver - For Stages 1-3
        2. Base Stardust Shard - For Stages 4-6
        3. Base Stardust Gem - For Stages 7-10

They can be obtained from various locations such as Quests, Battlegrounds and Mobs.

Enhancing an item will destroy any item you are using in the enhancement process EXCEPT for the piece of equipment you are enhancing.
Any items Enhanced to +6 and above have a chance of downgrading during enhancement.

      Enhancement NPC Interface:

Extra - Used to add items that will increase the Enhancement's success.

Narak Relic - Enhances Success rate by 5%; Can be stacked up to 4x.
Obtainable from the Item Mall, other players, Auction House, World Bosses, or Battlegrounds.

Blessed Narak Relic - Enhances Success rate by 6%; Can be stacked up to 4x.
Obtainable from the Item Mall, other players, and Auction House.

Safe Guard - Used to add an item that will prevent a piece of equipment from downgrading on failure.

        From Left to Right:
          1. Safeguard Stardust 6 - Prevents a +6 item from downgrading to +5 while attempting to upgrade it to +7
          2. Safeguard Stardust 7 - Prevents a +7 item from downgrading to +6 while attempting to upgrade it to +8
          3. Safeguard Stardust 8 - Prevents a +8 item from downgrading to +7 while attempting to upgrade it to +9
          4. Safeguard Stardust 9 - Prevents a +9 item from downgrading to +8 while attempting to upgrade it to +10
Obtainable from the Item Mall, other players, or Auction House.

      Empty Slot - Unknown.

      [ Before Enhancement | After Enhancement ]

      *Controlling Possible Enhancement Stats

      Success Rates:
      +1: 80%
      +2: 75%
      +3: 70%
      +4: 65%
      +5: 30%
      +6: 20%
      +7: 15%
      +8: 5%
      +9: 3%
      +10: 1%

4. Sealing NPC - Adding Even More Stats
Sealing items is a nifty way to add some more stats to any piece of equipment.

When you Seal an item you CAN NOT:
        - Trade it.
        - Enhance it.
        - Dissemble it.
        - Pretty much anything except for Randomization.

However, you CAN Unseal it whenever you'd like. To Unseal an item all you have to do is talk to the same NPC and insert your item then click Unseal.
Unsealing takes 24 hours but you can still use the item during this time.

      Sealing NPC Interface:

      [ Before Sealing | After Sealing ]

5. Cosmetologist/Grafting NPC - Changing Your Gear's Physical Appearance
The Grafting NPC allows you to change the appearance of your equipment if you like the stats but do not like how to equipment looks when worn.

Grafting is limited to Shoes, Suits, Gloves, and Weapons because these are the only equipment pieces with a physical appearance.

The items you are grafting must be of the same style and class.

You will need a Grafting Tool as well:

Left - For Grafting stats from Rare (Blue) Items
Right - For Grafting stats from Unique (Gold) Items

Grafting tools can be obtained through the Item Mall, other players, and Auction House.

      Grafting NPC Interface:

Use Items - Used for the item with the desired stats.
Vanity Items - Used for the item with the desired appearence.
Tool - Used for the required Grafting Tool.

      [ Interface Example ]

6. Item Ranking Registration NPC - Showing Off Your Epic Item
This NPC allows you to register and unregister your awesomely enhanced item into the Item Ranking system.
The Over-All Ranking Interface is currently unavailable so this system has little point atm.

      Item Ranking Registration NPC Interface:

      [ Before Ranking | After Ranking ]

7. Randomization NPC
Randomization will give your item 2 new random stats.
Hexweaves x3 is required for Randomization.
      See the Full Guide Here

Soon To Come/Currently Unavailable:

8. Amplification NPC
Amplification is like another version of Sealing but it requires an Amplification tool.
It gives your item addition stats but prevents it from being tradeable.

You can also unamplify your piece of equipment with a Remove tool.

      Amplification NPC Interface:

9. Synthesis/Transformation NPC
The Transformation NPC allows you to combine items to produce higher quality items.

      Some example combinations:
Lvl 20 Rare Cyberskin + Lvl 30 Rare Tempering Replicube = Lvl 30 Rare Cyberskin
Macham Battle Token x2 = Macham Battle Replicube

      Transformation NPC Interface:

If Synthesis fails, the Materials and the Fee will be consumed.

10. Pet Datachip Synthesis/Transformation NPC
This Transformation NPC works exactly like the regular Tansformation NPC except it pertains solely to Pet Datachips.

      Example combination:
Lvl 1 Max HP Datachip + Max HP Datachip Upgrade = Lvl 2 Max HP Datachip

      Transformation NPC Interface:

If Synthesis fails, the Materials and the Fee will be consumed.

Once you get up to like +5 the success rate starts to sink a bit, and generally it's good to invest in the enhancements that will increase success rate. If not, you're not unlikely to waste at least 50g just to get something from +7 to +8 (not including the price of the enhancement tools). xD

I like this game's take on soulbinding. I've always thought it was beyond stupid that gear couldn't be resold once equipped in nearly every MMORPG since whatever the first game to do it was, I started with games like Ultima Online and Diablo where quite literally everything was tradeable and could potentially be lost on death.

Fair enough.I guess it should theoretically be harder to fortify at higher levels. Does enhancing an item cost more and more money or is it constant 25 Silver? And does the stats gain increase as u fortify ( e.g. 1% for +1, 2% for +2 etc) ( sorry for the questions >_< )

it will cost more and yes that's what you pay for better stats
