Technical Support Help DC Disconnection Typing Chat Shaiya Ask The Players LemonPetals Tickets
Down to the point (TL;DR) I constantly DC from the game after I initiate typing in a response to a team member or in any chat in general. Makes it hard to make friends, make plans for raids or anything. Here is the Ticket as exactly was submitted with computer specs. Thanks for the help guys any suggestions would be great...I'm just tired of reinstalling the game almost every hour to be able to type >.<

Before I sent in this ticket I have tried everything! Complete Uninstall-reinstall (Over 10 times now), Windows updates, and I'm running the most current DirectX 11! Internet connection is absolutely normal and pings back under 1000. I wonder what is causing the game to DC when I type .. and that is the only reason I DC D:

Game: Shaiya in English

Server: Teos and Gaia

Character Name: LemonPetals

Date and time of occurrence: 2012-12-30 22:29 GMT-8

Hello!

I have 2 game accounts Gaia (OhSmexy UoF) and Teos (LemonPetals AoL).
Recently I have tried all I could to get my game to function correctly. I
did the suggestions even reinstalled the game almost 6 times. I pinged the
Internet connection it was fine never over 1000 and was fast. I installed
all Windows updates and DirectX was up-to-date. OS Info will be at the
bottom of this ticket because of it's length.

Now here is the part that is troubling me:

I can log into either of my accounts without much difficulty. Until I
begin typing in the chat box. I cannot type anything or I will DC so this
makes playing very difficult. Sometimes I'm able to type while in a
dungeon but rarely. If I send more than one chat comment I will DC or
crash.

I have yet to play comfortably without DC through typing and a GS
cannot remember the name as a friend had asked them for me. They said to
reinstall. After reinstall I can run fine and type and attack and play
normally. When I exit the game or log off I have the same troubles again
so I have to reinstall the game again (usually once an hour). I cannot
find a nice party to play in because I have to constantly reinstall the
game so no one wants to party because they know I will DC. I cannot chat
in the boxes much or I will DC and this will prompt me to have to reinstall
again. This is becoming a big problem for me.

Now there is a new moree troubling problem on top of the chatting
disconnection issue. I now can't fight or heal using hotkeys or number
keys. All the Hotkeys and numbers are assigned to the attack and heal
bars. Now I have to click the icon with my touchpad mouse which is the
meaning of life or death in a party being a healer.
Since now I cannot chat or even fight/heal I'm at an end to what can I
do in the game. it makes me so sad because I just recovered my Gaia
account OhSmexy (thank you for reopening this account!) and now this. I
also feel like I'm becoming a bother, but I would love to know how to fix
these issues. This is my 6th reinstall and as I'm typing this now going
into my 7th reinstall of this game because of not being able to attack or
type.
I grow tired of not being able to communicate with parties or not
being able to make friends. I hope there is something that can be done.
I'm very grateful for everything that anyone can do for me thank you so
much for reading this! Thank you.

Please help me,

2013-01-01 21:09:12 Response from Team Aeria

Hello LemonPetals,
Thank you for contacting support.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience. One of the greatest resources
Aeria has is the knowledge of our own players! You might want to
consider posting your problem in our forums and seeing if other players
have experienced the same problem. Here is the link:

http://forums.aeriagames.com/index.php?f=148

Here are some more suggestions to try:

Make sure your system meets the minimum requirements which can be viewed
here: http://lastchaos.aeriagames.com/info/sysreq

Update your OS with all current patches, here:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

Update your DirectX to the latest version, here:
http://www.microsoft.com/directx/

Update your drivers to the latest version.
(Location dependent on your hardware)

Do a complete uninstall of your game. If you have problems with the
uninstall, delete the directories, and use something to clean up the
registry (http://www.ccleaner.com/)

Re-Start your machine.

Defrag your hard drive

Download the latest client

Re-install the game. Log in, patch, play.

This will help you obtain the best experience possible.

I noticed they suggested you look up the Last Chaos minimum requirements, but directed you to the Shaiya forum. Which game do you play?

Ignore that, I read the entire contents of your ticket submission and saw you play Shaiya. Did you double check the requirements for the correct game?

CCleaner

Reply to Triti
Yes I did try the CCleaner and cleaned out everything however the problem still exists unfortunately. Unfortunately it would let me send up one word or sentence such as "testing 123" but then when I click on the chat box again it crashes the game :C

I think i will make a video of the problem and post it >.<

Thank you for the reply! I appreciate it so much!

Yes the computer is only a year old and it is built for entertainment. I tested another game I enjoy playing and it works fine when I type and chat. It is just this one that causes me troubles Sad

Thank you for the reply! I'm very grateful!

Hello LemonPetals,

At this moment it's a bit of a guess what your issue is. Your laptop seems to be fine.

(although I replaced my old HP, because the opening for air circulation for the cooling is on the bottom instead of the side/back for most HP models, which is naturally easily blocked by a table or cough or legs etc).

Your ATI graphics card is integrated in the CPU. Did you feel (just touch your laptop - most likely on the upper left section of the casing) if your laptop becomes warm when playing Shaiya?

Anyways, aside that... it would really help if you could describe the exact nature of what happens when you DC. Does the screen turn black and then leap back into your desktop as if Shaiya vanished? Or do you receive an error before it closes (Data receiving error etc.). If possible, try to describe it here in as much details as you can. We can more or less see where the error occurs this way (it can be server side, client side, or by some of your drivers, or hardware).

Please try to check if the resolution of Shaiya is running at 1366x767
I cannot check Shaiya myself atm (not installed here), if that option is not available in the configuration, you can manually edit the configuration file (an .ini file in your Shaiya install, which you can simply edit with notepad). The game engine itself supports any resolution, and setting it at the native screen resolution is what I'd recommend.

Another thing you could check is if your keyboard settings got warped to some change setting (Windows 7 does this on occasion). It might be possible that you try to submit some unrecognised character when trying to chat. If you hold "CTRL" + "SHIFT" for 4 seconds, your keyboard settings will be reversed back to normal.

HP is also keen on adding a lot of "HP enhancers" and "HP optimization" services on their notebooks. Some of these breach in and "modify" your display driver data. Click "Start" on your computer and then right click on "Computer" in the upper left corner of your start menu. Select "Manage" (need admin rights). I at least advice to stop and/or remove "HP Protecttools" if you have that.

Go to the tab called "Services and Applications" and then to "Services". Search for services from HP that are listed with the status "Started". Go to their properties and set them on manual startup and stop them. If this doesn't affect Shaiya, it might not be what is causing your problems.

It would also be nice to know if you run Shaiya in Windows mode of Full screen mode.

Thank you for this!

I usually keep my laptop sitting on a table with a special mat that has a mesh bottom to promote air flow. This laptop does sometimes get pretty warm if the room is hot but this is rare as the apartment temperature is usually 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit (15-21 in degrees Celsius), and normally on the lower side. Especially in the winter and I hope I'm making sense sorry if I'm not.

Well when I DC I get the basic windows error "This program has been forced to close and was not responding" or something like that. However I found a temporary solution: If I use Livestream and "test typing" normally a couple of shouts or the such and then game runs without a hitch at least until I exit. I have to do this each time I enter the game.

I did the "CTRL+Shift" and held down for four seconds and then I also reset the game to 1360x768 (only setting close to it).

Usually what will happen is I can login pick a character and then begin to play. I can type only one sentence or phrase or even a smile face then send it with enter. The the trouble begins when I click on the brown chat box or the chat bar for the 2nd time. I get the windows error message saying that the game needs to close. like this:

However! If I record first with the Livestream Podcaster for a few seconds when I'm typing my "Testing for DC" then do it 3 or 4 more times I can then end the live recording and be able to play the game. I must do this each time I exit and enter the game or I get the same error message.

I at least advice to stop and/or remove "HP Protecttools" if you have that.

hmm I didn't see anything of this sort so i guess it's okay unless these programs are hidden and I can't find them. Could this be it?

Go to the tab called "Services and Applications" and then to "Services". Search for services from HP that are listed with the status "Started". Go to their properties and set them on manual startup and stop them. If this doesn't affect Shaiya, it might not be what is causing your problems.

For some reason I'm having a difficult time finding this tab. I searched in the start bar and cannot find it there either. Maybe I'm doing something incorrectly with this step when trying to find this tab.

It would also be nice to know if you run Shaiya in Windows mode of Full screen mode.

Normally the game runs as full-screen and the ignite launcher does not seem to allow the game to run in windows mode even with the -w in the target line. I might be doing this wrong. Maybe this is causing the problem?

So far without starting a Livestream before I type I still DC but with the Livestream I can play for a while until I exit and then I have to do it again.

[EDIT] Also I would have included ingame screenshots but it doesn't let me save a SS from after a crash Sad

Sorry for the delayed reply I really appreciate you help with this subject Very Happy
