EA Origin Hacked (???)

There are multiple reports that the EA Origin site has been hacked:

http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2012/11/14/ea-origin-accounts-hacked-time-change-your-passwords/

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-11-14-ea-origin-accounts-are-being-hijacked

http://kotaku.com/5960503/origin-users-are-suddenly-getting-hacked-a-lot

http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/11/14/rumor-origin-hacked-ea-denies-intrusion/

The official EA statement is as follows:

http://www.polygon.com/2012/11/14/3644348/origin-accounts-reportedly-being-accessed-stolen

"At this point, we have no reason to believe there has been any intrusion into our Origin database."

It is not clear that there is an issue. However, it is generally a good idea to update your password regularly. If you have not done so on your EA account recently, perhaps now is a good time.

If you have created an EA account through Aeria, simply log into the game via our pages, and then update your password as needed (steps vary by game).

Thanks for the update. Hopefully what EA is saying is true and they are not hacked.

Re: EA Origin Hacked (???)

Oh this...
I can't believe EA is denying any hacking into their database. Myself and tons of people I know playing GW2 have been hacked. I have never been hacked in my decade+ of online gaming. I'm very careful about my accounts, using complicated, different passwords for everything, I even have multiple e-mail addresses.
Sure it sucks I lost my stuff, but it surely is not at my fault. They changed my password, which requires the CD key for goodness sakes. o_o

Rejecting the possibility that they have been hacked is almost as bad as being hacked in the first place. Thanks for the notification Superdog.

He's Aeria's version of a Superhero. He has the power to scan through countless websites looking for things that might jeperodize Aeria Games' Safety! Surprised
