As for OPs in events or other ways of getting them for free we can discuss the options with the team, do you guys have any more specific suggestions?
I have many.
A few examples,
One way would be to revamp the GS prize packs, the Elite pack for example, if this was used more regularly, there is one method right off the bat.
Then you could have newbie pvp events, with a twist. Instead of, kills, or drops as prizes, you have a referee both sides, its basically naked pvp with level 1 weps, but the referee looks to see who is pushing, who is not holding back, who is actually going for it. The catch is that this would exclude the regular veterans of the zone, and instead be focusing on the new guys (any GS that specializes in pvp in their zone would be able to tell the difference). And then hand over a stack of say, 5-10 ops to the new player they feel was most dedicated to actual pvp. It keeps newbies in the loop and the ubers can't push in.
Forum events are a good one as well, how? It encourages players to actually go to the forums, if only for the event, but while they are there, they may also pick up some info while they are at it, While i was a GS i made an interesting event i have never seen repeated, it was called 'rename the GS'.
A volunteer would make a post, and then people hit them with a maximum of 3 different name suggestions, (in the original event i would chose the winner, but it can be edited to popular vote). At the end of it all, someone grabs a few OPs, everyone has fun, the GS gets a new name for a month or so.
The other thing is to make sure the pack is worthwhile, a minimum of say 3 ops, a maximum of say 10. to vets, this isn't that much, to a newbie, its a lifeline, a reason to keep going. You also need to be sure that everyone has a shot, it needs to be things that are focused around new players and not something vets can stampede.
Those are 3 off the top of my head, as i say if you wish to talk in private, i can explain in more detail.
