Dude, stop spam posting your youtube videos. This is for an event and you should only be posting your entry, not trying to bolster your post count.

Now for my entry.

Sol (aka The Sun) Location: Center of our solar system

The Sun is the star at the center of the Solar System. It is almost perfectly spherical and consists of hot plasma interwoven with magnetic fields. It has a diameter of about 1,392,684 km, about 109 times that of Earth, and its mass (about 2×1030 kilograms, 330,000 times that of Earth) accounts for about 99.86% of the total mass of the Solar System. Chemically, about three quarters of the Sun's mass consists of hydrogen, while the rest is mostly helium. The remainder (1.69%, which nonetheless equals 5,628 times the mass of Earth) consists of heavier elements, including oxygen, carbon, neon and iron, among others.

Also it keeps us from being human Popsicles on a froze chunk of rock.

Altair

Name:
Altair (Alpha Aquilae, Alpha Aql, α Aquilae, α Aql, Atair) is the brightest star in the constellation Aquila and the twelfth brightest star in the night sky. It is an A-type main sequence star with an apparent visual magnitude of 0.77 and is one of the vertices of the Summer Triangle (the other two vertices are marked by Deneb and Vega).

Source: Wikipedia.

Mythology:
The name Altair has been used since medieval times. It is an abbreviation of the Arabic phrase النسر الطائر, an-nasr aṭ-ṭā’ir (English: The flying eagle). The term Al Nesr Al Tair appeared in Al Achsasi Al Mouakket catalogue, which was translated into Latin as Vultur Volans.
This name was applied by the Arabs to the asterism of α, β, and γ Aquilae and probably goes back to the ancient Babylonians and Sumerians, who called α Aquilae the eagle star. The spelling Atair has also been used. Medieval astrolabes of England and Western Europe depicted Altair and Vega as birds.

Romance Japanese Story

This undated haiku relates to two written in 1823 and 1825, where Issa sees stars as children, grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Tanabata is a festival that takes place on the seventh day of Seventh Month. According to a romantic legend, two celestial lovers--the stars Altair and Vega--are separated by Heaven's River (the Milky Way). One night a year (Tanabata night), they cross the starry river to be together. In this haiku, Issa pushes the myth even further, imagining that the lover stars, over time, have produced many shining offspring.

Modern Term for Japanese Story

The expression, "good stars tonight" (hoshi ko yoi), refers to Tanabata, a festival that takes place on the seventh day of Seventh Month. According to a romantic legend, two celestial lovers--the stars Altair and Vega--are separated by Heaven's River (the Milky Way). One night a year (Tanabata night), they cross the starry river to be together. In this haiku, the smoke against the clear heavens signals a good night for star-gazing.

Betelgeuse!

The Red Supergiant
Also part of the Orion constellation (the pink arrow points to Betelgeuse, one of Orion's shoulders) :

I love this star because to this day, it still poses questions to our scientists, even though is was the second star--after the Sun--to have its photosphere measured, and people have been attempting to study it since antiquity! But alas, poor Betelgeuse is considered old for his size class, and therefore expected to explode relatively soon--most likely as a type II Supernova. At its current distance from Earth, such a supernova explosion would be the brightest recorded, outshining the Moon in the night sky and becoming easily visible in broad daylight. But don't worry, it's not near close enough to harm us. Be sure to wave 'bye' to poor Betelgeuse when he goes! </3

Albireo, a double star

Albireo, also known as Beta Cygni; is a very little know star. The few who do though, know of its tremendous beauty and color. It's a double star, one of which is golden, while the other a terrific shade of blue. Usually, stars have very bland typical colors, but when paired together like so, their true magnificence shows.
Plus! Some manga and anime characters have the same name so it's pretty neat =3

MY FAVORITE STAR?!

star?!?!!!

HERE IT IS!!! THE EVER BRIGHT POLARIS OR SIMPLY KNOWN AS THE NORTH STAR.
It's a star in the constellation Ursa Minor. It's close to the NORTH celestial pole making it look as if it's directly above from the north pole, when viewing from the area.

Here's a star trail with the guiding star at the center Smile
Enjoy!!!

ANTARES

A red supergiant star in the Scorpius Constellation. It's the brightest star in its constellation and ranks 15th in the whole night sky. Other names of Antares include, Scorpion's heart, Anti-mars and α Scorpii. It's my favourite star since I'm a Scorpio (lame reason I know but I don't really have a favourite star, they're all very pretty uvu)

Twinkle twinkle little star...

Name: V886 Centauri (BPM 37093)
Its the Largest diamond ever found outter space.
It was nicknamed ''Lucy'' after the Beatle song ''Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds''
Lucy has a thin atmosphere of hydrogen and helium and its 50 lightyears away from Earth. Why is it my favorite? Well because...I like shiny stuff.....x3
