correction, there are no alpha testers in the sense of an external company/group of players who are asked to test the game. The internal AGE team DO test the game but I wouldn't call that an alpha persay.

Alpha testing is the first testing phase, basically, this is the phase where they are testing it in bits and pieces and working out the kinks, hence why it is internal, if you are not paid to do an Alpha you wouldn't(seriously, would you take one character from level 1 to level 100 by killing level 1 mobs 100 times just to see if there are bugs in the leveling system? and then do it AGAIN without the leveling for the drop rates? and then AGAIN for the damage? that's what an alpha test is) Beta is the FIRST public test, but in can also be an internal test, for CB, recently CB's for MMO's have become much more open, but they are still more limited than Open Beta which is when ANYONE can play, just expect more bugs than normal(especially for areas not frequented during normal gameplay)

mmm I know that its just the guy was asking about an alpha testers and I said there wasn't. However in a way AGE does internal test some aspects so...

so you mean you wouldn't call that an Alpha test in the sense that you would call an Open Beta a Beta?

A test in which people try out stuff for the first time, is normally called an alpha test, every product, service or whatever has an alpha test. The definition in different types of products/services vary in each one though. This is because different things require different procedures and tests

You're making this overly complicated. There was no external Alpha test for this title. That's what the original poster was asking about and that was what marksteele was referring to. Aeria Games generally does not have external Alpha testing for it's titles and those few that are, are closed Alphas.

GM Paladin, are there any news about this game(Starlight Story) upcoming beta?
