Although this topic has been brought up a
series of times, the issue of it still lives!!! And as of lately, it's been happening a LOT more...so this is just a friendly reminder...
Players, new and old, be careful of in-game scammers!
-Especially
NEW players.
****NOTICE****
To players who do not "use" the forums: While it is NOT required of you to use the forums, know that forums are here for your benefit. If not to use them for posting, at the very least, CHECK the forums actively for info regarding players and any other important information posted here on the forums.
Tips:
- Try a background check:
-When trading with anyone, especially someone unknown to you, check that players credibility BEFORE agreeing to trade with them and BEFORE sending any items/weapons/gears/AP to them!!! Ask around for them in game or on the forums. Check out their reputation with other players, friends, guildies and see if they're reliable. If word comes back that they're not, trading is not recommended!
- Ask a GS to monitor your trade:
-GS's are here to help. If you want our help in trading, be it even for us just to watch, all you have to do is ask. As stated before, most of us, if not all, will have absolutely no problem with doing so. Some people my feel reassured with having a GS present to watch a transaction between players, and some may feel threatened due to it. If a player refuses to allow a GS to watch the trade, you may need to re-think trading with them.
If not a GS, any type of middleman to watch the transaction who will bear witness if anything about the trade goes wrong.
- Person begs or tries pressuring you into a trade:
-Not to say all who may beg for a trade are scammers, some of these people you should still be careful about. If they seem overly determined in getting you to trade with them, it could potentially be an unsafe trade. If the person does not back down after you have refused them and resorts to insulting you, name calling, and any continuous harassment, blocking the person and reporting (if wanted) is recommended.
- If they are a known scammer:
-Some people can change, yes! But if the player is KNOWN to scam and you STILL decided to trade with them, that is technically a situation you allowed yourself to get into. DON'T ALLOW YOURSELF TO BECOME A VICTIM!
There are plenty of other, more reliable, people in game to trade with. Find one!
- Players asks for your account info to "gift" you AP, ect:
-Although this hasn't happened much to my knowledge or too recently, doing this is strongly not recommended for two reasons:
A: You should NEVER give your account info out, especially to a stranger. It is also against ToS.
B: Any person who asks for your account info has great potential to be a scammer.
-This also includes being linked to sites that claim free AP rewards, where it asked that you put your Aeria Games account info in. Do NOT do it. Other than the offers listed on the AGE site itself, GM's have already made it clear that there are no other legit free AP offers.

In the event that you're scammed, take screenshots of the chat logs. Get as much proof as you can regarding the conditions you and said scammer agreed upon, how they were violated, and what items were wrongfully stolen from you. Compile all evidence you can find and send a ticket to GM's through
Contact Us. Be sure to specify in the ticket your situation
clearly.
(Also be sure to fill out the ticket form correctly and sending it to the right games GM's)
