Future Server Merge of S1 and S2

Just thought I would provide feedback on a future server merge for Crystal Saga.


Overall I believe it will be healthy.
R2 has great experiance doing this every 1-2 weeks so their techinical expertise should provide a pretty bug free one.


Our server populations are in dire need of fresh players. We arent keeping up with the natural mmorpg churn rate.

This is also having a negtive impact on the player economy suffering from too much deflation. Currently we arent getting addequate new system gold into the system.

In a natural economy this wouldnt be a factor, since prices would adjust and buying power would be relative.

In this economy it has a negative impact since very few players can afford the gold based events for purchases. i.e. gmuts at 3g conversion and torches at 5g ea as examples.

Then there are the routine cost such as synthesis cost and gear upgrade costs. We have plenty of gold sinks in the game. The amount of new gold into the economy is at a rapid decline.


Currently we have 1 major guild on each server. A little rivalry and competition from a merge would provide alternatives in a merger of s1 and s2. That arent normally available because of the lower active player populations.

The merger is just a bandaid. We have had alot of new Aeria games released during the last few months. In the end we need a steady stream of new players entering the game. As you are probably more aware of the demographics on anime mmorpgs. These tend to have a high turn over rate do to the younger median age range of the player base.

Compensation for the merger could include 1 Plat/Diamond to help boost the economies. This may seem high to some, but the amount of natural gold sinks and event gold sinks in the game would dimnish this fairly quickly till we can get some fresh players into the game.

Couldn't agree more.

A merger would drive competition between the more active players, increasing spending Im sure on the item mall to become stronger than new found enemies and also give current players an alternate option to the current guilds they may dislike on their server.

The merge is a good idea and to compensate for the lack of 2 servers, I'd suggest opening a new server at the same time and making it a PvE server to accommodate players who dislike PvP

Merging S1 and S2
As a S2 player, I would hate to see S1 players who have been around awhile so much further than us S2 players. I could see if you plan to do this in like a year and plan a S3. S2 isn't even that old! The economy in S2 is already starting to drop. The problem with your events is that you make them so only lev 70+ ppl can do a good portion of them. Want to make greater muts less a problem, have them drop in higher lev dungs, or seriosly drop the amount needed for a try to upgrade your mount and drop the price in the shop. 50 crystal...for a Regular mut....Really? lets say 100 crystal = 1 us dollar. it would take you 12 dollars per try for a bear, and it usually takes over 7 stars. giving us a 1D, only if your going to give it to the newer server to level out the previous servers exp and time. I think overall, that the reason this game isn't receiving alot of new players, is more due to the cost of the shop, and yes the num 1 guild in ea server (make a cap for guilds so they can't be more than 2 levs higher than prev) but also the fact that this game appears unfinished (big pet soul area that isn't used yet but has been here for over 6months) and unless you have alot of money, your not gonna get the high mounts. so i think adjustments should be the focus

S1 is about 2 weeks older than s2 only?

FYI S2 was started about 1month or so after S1.

The in game events were designed by R2 for over 30 servers and not just our 2 noob servers.

Ya both our servers are actually infants compared to R2 servers. Plus all those high level players who kill you guys on S2? They would have their hands full, same with us high levels on S1... bigger fish to fry than noobs so would kinda help lower levels.

S1 Started 4/12/12
S2 Started 05/07/12

S2 Started 26 days after S1

May I ask why a server merge is already being discussed? I'm not trying to belittle the idea. i'm just curious. I know server merges are done when a server player base dies down.

I know from personal experience the trouble R2 had managing their servers, and keeping them alive. I had to leave there because of it.

Is there a S3 being planned for release?

I mean, if Aeria think a Server merge is becoming necessary then I say go for it. But if not, then I say hold off.

I think it's about that time because I know s1 feels rather "stale" at the moment. I'm sure s2 must as well. Each server having the usual players who control certain aspects of the game without rival. Competition breeds life, I think the player base would benefit from it and Aeria would as well if they were to merge and at the same time open a new server and make it PvE based like R2 has.

Thats what i figured. That maybe S1 was becoming a bit dead. Then I say a merge is GOOD. Besides the S2 guild "Knights" needs someone to contest them lol.

Just if they release a S3, I hope the merged S1 and S2 don't die because everyone left for the new one >_<
