Gold Buying

Just say no to Buying Gold
We all know that gold buying is bad. However, many believe that it is bad for others... but not so bad for them. The reality is that it is gold buying is bad for everyone. When someone pays for gold, they are paying someone to do bad things. This means that the people buying gold are paying others to steal accounts/cards, bot, hack and do all of the things that ruin the game. This also creates inflation, which means everyone suffers.

Here is a good (recent) interview with a gold farmer, where they discuss how this is destroying Diablo 3. This should give you some idea of what happens when others pay for gold buying.

Please think about how this would affect your game before you choose to buy gold/items from third parties.

I agree with this, there should be a limit to the number of accounts creatable from an IP, though that would be difficult to implement

I think it might be easier if the sign up process takes a bit longer to go threw or something like that. probably wont stop them but will slow them down.

Like I've told people before in the games I've played, don't ever buy gold. Without a market, gold sellers will give up and close their doors. But there's always that group of people who are just way too lazy or want it now that will stupidly go buy gold. It only hurts everyone in the long run, not to mention the real world consequences it holds.

Thanks for the video, Superman, was a very interesting watch.

This what killing games the abuse of any source.

As per account limits, games should be designed in a way where MAC Addresses should be integrated with its engineering to verify authenticity. This method would require hard programming where user should not alter the games config files. MAC address authentication should work in this form:

User launches the game--> Game config file requests to central server that the MAC address of the PC is registered in the database--> Central server sends an acknowledgement confirming that the game configuration has not been altered and MAC address is registered ---> user gets prompted for username and password to launch the game.

The following technologies use the MAC in a form of a identifier:

Ethernet
802.11 wireless networks
Bluetooth
IEEE 802.5 token ring
most other IEEE 802 networks

So why not design the game in this form? Smile
