Summertime, means only one thing, MORE PRIZES FOR YOU!

You're only in it for the prizes... jerks.
Ahh summer approaches. For all of us, it means many different things. As a child it meant fresh lemonade and tart pudding. When I became a teenager, it meant riding my bike with my friends to go to the mall or hit the local arcade. And now that I am older, it only means one thing. Work. Ugh.

Oh, I forgot another thing.

Concert / Music Festival season!

So why not share my hype and excitement with all of you here in the LC community! You all love music dont you? Course you do, I really only met 2 people in my life who don't, and can you really be considered people at that point? I KID I KID!

Here's the lowdown, the music that I have experienced live is a drop in the bucket compared to my collection of CDs, vinyls and digital collection amassed since I was a young teen. And since last year when I started at Aeria, I became addicted to going to live shows. I have been to an electronic music festival, a folk show in an intimate little bar, our downtown jazz festival, rock shows seeing as my favorite band is just that, and I have a nice handful of shows lined up for this summer.

What I am asking of you all is to share with me your experiences. Tell me about seeing your favorite lead singer stage diving into your face! Explain to me how a portapotty at a festival is just NOT the business. Enlighten everyone on why speed metal is god, and everything pales in comparison to a gnarly solo shredded into your head live. I went to see Rusko recently, and it was just so darn fun. I danced for 2 and a half hours and came in to perform GM duties sore for the entire week. WORTH IT! Tell me what acts in your area/country you're looking forward to seeing.

Not all my experiences were amazing of course, so I want you to gripe about the worst things about attending live music events too! For example, security at the last show I attended literally didnt give two flying chickens about the crowd smoking, INDOORS! That made it insanely difficult to enjoy myself if Im breathing in smoke every other breath. The place was already a sauna with all the bodies packed in such a small venue. Jeez!

Bonus points for music for me to check out! Link to youtube videos, give me spotify URLs, and if I happen to really dig your suggestion, youll receive a nice thank you from me. Dont worry, I wont spoil it, its a surprise!

So what do my favorite stories win?

Well, the spiffy pokeball badge of course. This badge will make you eligible for future raffles hosted by yours truly!

And the grand prize?

Widen your musical horizon with a 500pk of spiffy EXPERIENCE BOOSTERS
Get your ear drums knocked out with a nice little Smackout Pack!
Sample what the world of music has to offer with a Potion Sampler Pack!

That's not all!

Upgrade your instrument of choice with a MS +23!

Remember to get your groovy swingin' stories in before the deadline:

June 19, 2012 at 7PM PST (Ill be back from a show the night before, so Ill be amped to read all your experiences!)

Kid Rock ft. Sheryl Crow

My first experience!
My first experience in a concert (that i actually remember cuz parents took me to them when i was a kid... like that did anything for me then!) was in Atlanta Georgia. It was amazing because i absolutely LOVE Kid Rock. It was outdoors in an amphitheatre(i think?), which kinda sucked cuz we were in the grass area WAYYYY back and that did not propose good picture takings. However it was amazing. Opened up with small littly bands.. then went to Sheryl Crow's main songs... into Picture by kid rock and sheryl crow (LOVE THE SONG!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKFx0MMqb48 I love country/rock music, so this concert was just the best for me! Music, people, dancing, singing (and knowing no one will be able to hear your horrible voice). It was a great experience for me and i couldnt stop talking about it for weeks! Seeing Kid Rock jam out on stage was great and it's something i'll never forget Smile

An actual video from the concert i was at.. was amazing.. its not my video!...just saying lol

I was here!

I am located 1 person behind the lead singer in this video. This was an awesome experience because I saw Blind Pilot in a small little bar in Sacramento. They are uber friendly and so awesome. The band decided to step off the stage to perform this in the audience as their encore, and as it's an acoustic song, encouraged everyone to sing along. Whether you like the song or not, crowd participation is always awesome, especially for such a sweet song.

Going to Thrice next week, will report back XD

This will date me, but...

Aside from local and college bands that I went to all the time in my college years, here are the big concerts I've attended:

March 19, 1983 - The Police (Synchronicity tour) - Civic Arena, Portland, OR
July 16, 1983 - Quiet Riot, Loverboy, Night Ranger, Joan Jett, Triumph - Oregon Jam, Autzen Stadium, Eugene, OR
December 14, 1986 - Journey - Phoenix, AZ
August 29, 1989 - The Who - Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, Oakland, CA
August 22, 1993 - Grateful Dead, Autzen Stadium, Eugene, OR
September 06, 1993 - Neil Young, Pearl Jam, Blind Melon - Portland Meadows, Portland, OR
June 24, 1994 - Grateful Dead, Silver Bowl, Las Vegas NV

Without question the first two concerts were the most amazing events that I can remember. The Police tour was actually sponsored by MTV in it's infant years. And going to an all-day outdoor concert in Eugene in the early 80s was eye-opening to say the least.

I can barely afford to get into any big-name concerts any more.

Thanks SeeYouInTea for yet another a great Sig!

awsome concert experiences

just for you
Sooooooo many to tell.. was front row when stevie nicks tripped over her nickers and hit stage so hard it blew out her mike (2 words back then... jenny craig)

was at best shows of pink floyd and 1 show me and my buds indulged in a few too many micro-dots.. well when we walked in they were putting little things on others heads, didn't think anything of it.. till the light show when 2 HUGE ufo's came over top of the stadium and started blasting each other.. well the little dot things were receivers for laser light contacts and they started hittin peaple in the forehead.. well dude next to me had 1 and when it blasted him we swore it took his head off and my bud puked all over a security guard below us...

pin floyd the berlin wall.. yea THE REAL WALL concert.. if u ever see the concert on dvd look for a dude up a light pole who manages to fall off into the law below...thats my best friend in that video.. cost us 500 bucks to bail him outta jail and had send home for cash to get back in the states..

saw roger daltry know his leed guitarist out cold when he did his famous microphone swing... that was HILARIOUS..

way too many i can write a book.. I have over 3oo concert stubs inna huge picture frame to all the shows i've seen...

The first concert I ever went to was in the late 60's. It was a band called the Grass Roots. My cousin who was several years older took me. I don't remember too much from that other than where it was and was the first time I ever experience the chest pulsation from Bass XD.

The second concert I attended was in 1978 Yes. The stage was round and rotated during the concert. A fabulous group of musicians who were before their time. There were a lot of wanna be bands that came after them but, never attained the musicianship and complexity of music they did and still do to this day.

The next concert I attended was Queen My memory is a little fuzzy as to when this was. I was thinking it was 1978 but, I don't remember them playing any song from their 1977 album so it could have been early 1977. I had a fairly good seat albeit off to the side a little I was close enough to snag one of the carnations Freddy Mercury threw into the audience. I remember the concert starting with Freddy Mercury rising up out of the stage and the concert ending after the last song by Brian May throwing his guitar across the stage toward his guitar amp causing the humbucker pickups and those stacks of Marshal amps to go into a nice feedback loop! Awesome!!!!

The next concert I attended was a little know band that was awesome called Trapeze some time around 1979 or so(again fuzzy memory there). Later on the bass player from that band Joined Deep Purple of "Smoke on the Water" fame.

There have been many concerts since then from Various artists of many styles of music but, none that influenced me like those did.

after research I figured out I had one of the dates wrong and the tour name...dang memory...

My first concert going experience was definitely one of my best. Projekt Revolution 07 was in town and I was goingggg!!! A bunch of my friends went to a festival on a hawt august day. I probably should have died that day because I had McDonalds at 7am and then ice chips throughout the day (too broke for real food) and then a few cans of free monster. Really tho, shoulda died.

But two awesome things I will remember. One was being soooo close to the lead singer that when he leaned forward I could touch the soft, pretty hairs on his head. Honestly tho, like baby hair soft. I will never forget it. Their music really hit me at that time. The guy I was in love with was with me at the concert (as was his girlfriend). Kinda awkward tho. What she doesn't know won't kill her, I guess.

Afterwards Mindless Self Indulgence came on and that was such a high energy concert. The one thing I remember and will remember always is the lead singer getting on the top of one of the speakers and then jumping off with his pants around his ankles. That takes skill, dude.

When I went to band camp the next day, I was soooooo sunburnt.

I'm a lady borderline. I've sold you pills of fear and fun so that you felt alive ... but insane

Okay well, first off I would like to say, I have never been to a concert, partly due to my inaccessibility to go to them xD. Although I am a huge music fan, I have yet to seen any music played live. My brother however, creates music off of his mac's, I don't get how he does it, it just sounds amazing.

Being the audiophile I am, I may not have any experience with live show's but I have had a few memorable dances. One being the huge variety of people on the floor not dancing because no good songs were being played by the DJ. I went up to the DJ and asked her if I could help her out, so I went on Youtube with her laptop connected to WiFi and went on Youtube to search up "Flosstradamus - total recall". My school being the Dubstep heavy cultured it is, and with the reinforcement of a dark room, heavy strobes, huge speakers w/ subs, and the follow up more heavy songs, the night was danced away immensely. That night, was a pretty good night a long with most of my other dances I've been too, but never has one topped that night.

But my music taste does not sit in one catagorey, but many
here are a few little tastes of music I like
If you want to see some of what I listen to, you can visit my profile and click on some links in my bio if you want to!

One suggestion to you would be definitely Lisa Mitchell- Neapolitan Dream
Her voice is so beautiful and raspy sweat at times, but if you like it sped up, I would definitely also recommend a remix of that song that is widely popular over the inter webs.
I won't link it, because I like the original better Razz.(
hope i win the badge Razz)

If you havent seen it yet, it's glorious

Out of curiosity, what do you think of Adam lambert singing in place of Freddy? I really still don't know how to feel about Rodgers.
