Hello all,
Im sure sure a lot of you are hearing information (speculation) on the upcoming tournament. So I am here to set the record straight.
The tournament has not been cancelled. However it must be postponed. There are several reasons for this, and I will be glad to share and explain them.
- the tools available for the current tournament would not allow us to run it to the caliber we like to hold ourselves too. This would add unnecessary work for the players and GM's/GS's and leave a lot of logistical processes vulnerable to human error that would detract from the over all experience. Plain and simple: it would be too easy to have ____ hit the fan.
- Even though I am not able to give a date the merge is close enough to potentially risk interfering with the event. The last thing we want to happen is start, stop and restart again here. There would be too many variables that could ruin the event.
- The way the event was setup before did not benefit the Gunz community as a whole. It was setup in a manner that was highly competitive and promoted activity, which is good. But it was done in a way that was very exclusive. It only promoted activity for the higher echelon of players not the community as whole, and it did not ensure fair competition by allowing players to take up multiple slots. Thus excluding others from the experience.
Many of you are worried that these changes will negatively affect the Gunz community. Though you are entitled to your opinion, all we ask is to see the results before passing judgment. We will relaunch the tournament forum thread once we have resolved the issues mentioned above.
We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding, and look forward to delivering a great experience.
PS: the sky is not falling.

...And right from the get-go Aeria Gunz is screwed. What's the point of a tournament if there is no real competition? If you want to get the whole community involved in events, do what Astra did, and host Friday Fights for everyone to join. Don't ruin the clan tournament for the elite players who earn their way into the tournament.
Also, a crown in Gunz is supposed to mean something. It's more than just a vanity item, it proves who is top tier. Stop giving them away like candy, they're supposed to be earned through a real tournament. The fact that now every GS has a crown deteriorates the meaning of it. Regardless of how much GS's contribute to the game, they shouldn't receive crowns, crowns should be restricted to tournament winners only.
