Cryptic Studios Database Compromised

It has come to my attention that Cryptic Studios has had their database compromised.

If you have used their services in the past, and have re-used any account name or password, please change them now.

it took Crypic Studios more than a year to detect the unauthorized access to their database?

It's actually quite easy and average to be unnoticed.

Like Nortel.

Life is like being eternally in debt waiting for the final court date. We are entitled to nothing.

Thanks for the headsup, although I that is one realm I don't play at, my condolences to those that do. As the age of technology continues, its a big wake up call when those things happen.

Good luck to them.

I believe that was a bogus email

I recieved it and it did not address me by name.

Bogus bank emails are the same they address you as dear customer.

Luckily I've only been with cryptic since after christmas.

Thanks for the heads up!. Good that I do not have an account with Cryptic Studios...but even if any of us has, it is always good to frequently change your passwords for all the accounts you have anywhere you have created one. Do that in a monthly basis and use Password Safe to store your passwords so like that you keep track. Password Safe would also require a password to open itself. So be Pro-active all time!.

Also the message I recieved said they had reset my account passwords and I could retrieve them by clicking the links below....

I went and logged into my game clients using my current passwords...

proving that the email I recieved was a lie and thus a phishing scam.

Unless you have it on good authority from cryptic staff direct Superman0X, I would treat this with extreme caution.
