It's not the players job to make sure they don't get hacked by kita (man, lots of people haven't even heard about her), it's the SF host's job to patch all her hacks and make sure she can't hack them anymore. if they fail to do that, they [b]have[/b[ to compensate for it by giving the items back if anyone gets hacked by her.
No, it's the developers job to make sure hacks are patched.
The "host" or, publisher (Aeria Games) has no power over this, unless it is THEIR databases and stuff that has been compromised (Very unlikely).
But after reading through this, i have a hard time believing that this game would survive after a merge between Aeria and Ijji, if the developers weren't aware, and in the process of making a fix.
If a system has a huge flaw, don't patch it, delete it, and remake. The only real thing that can be done. Applying simple patches for hacks and exploits (like altering a memory address etc) just doesn't cut it these days.
I'm sorry for anyone who got hacked, but unless you get a GM to look into this, and talk to Ijji employees about this, i don't see anything happening regarding your items.
