From using pen, paper and dice in Dungeons and Dragons, and then the text-based computer game Colossal Cave, to where we are now, I've seen a few changes along the way. The videos fill in some of the blanks in game development that I've missed.
EVE Online is a good idea in principle, but far too complex in practice. To my mind, Pirate Galaxy is what EVE should have become. Likewise Runescape and WoW suffer from similar problems, whereas Last Chaos for example is way better imho.
I know that WoW and RS have a multi-million global player base, and I don't want to take anything away from that achievement. The point I'm trying to make, is that a less complex game that you can just log in and play, without having to spend an hour endlessly trawling through menu's selecting stuff, has far more appeal.
Thanks Superman, the video's give a fascinating insight into the genre !!
