3 reasons i made this thread:
1. BD PRIDE
2.cuz theres no BD guide out there
3. to help you BDs -in- training
----------------Ingame requirements ------------------
Lv 45 Bard
Lv 50 Character
----------------Real life requirements (optional, but highly recommended)-----------
- Strong PC ( You know it's strong when you can switch to High priority settings w/o lagging )
Note: If you're going to be a pro BD then you got to have a strong PC, since you'll pull 10 ~ 25 mobs at once and then AoE at least 60% of them at once. And that's quite a few entities, and animation computation.
Gymnast : +5% move speed
Comment: [in a dungeon] /Blade dancer 1 dies /Martial Artist Dies. Both revive at the same time. Blade Dancer: See you at tha boss suckah. /runs off
Sword Expert: +10% (M and P)-ATK
Comment: nothing to see here
BDs use LIGHT ARMOR
===========================Pros and Cons=============================
Dungeons: The best you can have since you Aoe the [10 ~ 25 ] mobs
PvE: May take time to group mobs if they are spread out thinly across a vast area, you might take quite a bit of damage while doing so ( not the case with high evasion rate ), but after that, that's what people like from you: AoEing the crap out of huge groups of mobs.
PvP / Territory Wars/ Arena : The more opponents the better, otherwise you're not bringing out the full potential of your AoE skills. They're better in 5 vs 5+ rather than 3 vs 3. Another thing to note is, a BD is a bit useless by itself in PvP / Territory Wars / Arena. The reason is: you're dealing with people with a brain, not (dumb) mobs that follow a generic AI. Opponents tend to space out a lot, so most of the time, you're just 1v1-ing somebody, which is what you are NOT
supposed to do. You would want to die within 8 seconds to do Fury Hit Blade Dance Fury Hit on at least 3 / 5 / 10 of them (depending on amount of opponents), rather than spamming random skills to kill 1 person (you might survive another 5 seconds, but the amount of damage dealt is miniscule compared to multiple at once). How do you group them together? Thats why I said they are a bit useless by themselves. The REAL way to PvP / Territory Wars / Arena is to get your each of your allies to cooperate
to lure each opponent (yes, you have to lure one too) into one spot and then... you know what to do (AoE the crap out of them); (in the case of PvP with more than 2 people, temporarily team up with someone (if you can), and then after your done, kill that person (he might take some damage from your AoE while fighting with you), sneaky, but it works, but if you can't team up or if its just a 1v1, then try your best). But the problem is, people enjoy bashing BDs more than cooperating, and then once they've done bashing, they d/c, so you can ignore my tactic for PvP / Territory Wars / Arena, unless you are really, really lucky and find a cooperative, understanding person, actually no, people then you might be able to win.
Plan B is: Get uber godly gear / trophy / everything and then just wreck havoc. But 99.9^- of people cannot afford it so, forget about it. Plan C: hope that someone d/cs / theres some noob (opponent ofc). Tip: turn on Magic Samba, its one of the few cases where its actually, and significantly, useful.
Bossing: There are other classes that are better like MA, Thief, Hunter, Engi ect. BDs aren't really meant for bossing. BUT, if the boss does summon things then people will beg you save their lives. If not then just switch to another type of DPS. If you don't have another type of DPS then switch to Bard ( since it is a requirement for BD ) and ask one of your healers to go DPS. I highly suggest you have another type of DPS.
==============Races and Racial Skills============================
List of Races from best to worst for BD:
Best Race: Zumi
Worst Race: Halfkin
: +ATK & 100% Double Hit Rate for 15 secs.
Comments: More damage & twice as many hits? I'll take it.
: Teleport to somewhere 100 feet around you, aggro all the mobs on the way, and then some +AGI bonus.
Comments: Teleportation is definitely nice. Aggroing mobs depends on the situation, if you're training or going somewhere. The AGI bonus is definitely helpful, the one thing we all hate is getting damage as soon as we get to somewhere. If you're damage is high enough, you could kill all the mobs as soon as the buff runs out. You could also just teleport directly at where you're standing just for the bonus.
======================Section 1: Builds============================

---------------------Skill maxing list ---------------------------
1 being the first skill you should max and then so on:
1. Blade Dance
2. Firebird Dance
3. Slow Dance
5. Dance of War
6. Flashy Charm
8. Magic Samba
9. Song of patience
+ XXXX amount of P-ATK and hits a single target 2 times
Comments:fairly useful when waiting for Blade Dance / Fury Hit to cooldown, keep it maxed
Song of patience
Reduces P DMG by XX pts for 30 seconds
Comments: Level it . Saves your life. Damage reduction goes up by 1 point every level.
Interesting fact: The buff lasts 30 seconds, the cooldown is 30 seconds. We can say that this skill has no cooldown and will passively decrease enemy damage by XX points with the cost of XXX MP every 30 seconds.
Blade Dance (Dancing Blade as of new update):
Deals 3 hits to all nearby targets within 15 feet. Each hit does less damage than the last. Damage enhanced under Spirited Melody.
Comments: This is your main AoE skill. Always keep it maxed
Reduces M-DMG by XX(X) pts. reflects 30% back to attacker
Comments: Level it. Becareful, it can kill you or save u. It will damage you if the boss has damage reflect / insta kill when you hit it buffs
Dance of war:
Increases Crit rt. and ATK SPD by XXX points
Comments: A must for any BD especially EVA build BDs
Charms an enemy to attack another enemy nearby.Reduces all P-DMG taken by 50%
comments: It's only good if it's the same level as your level. Otherwise don't bother.
reduces ACC and EVA of all enemys within 15 ft.
Comments: Level it, helps your party + you. Sucks at lower levels.
Slow Dance :
Recovers XXX amount of HP a second for 12 secs. effect does NOT end when attacking
Comments:Worship it, use it, ect. level, hot key and use it like Blade Dance
Hits target 1 time with alot of dmg. takes double damage when target has buring metal on them.
Comment: A MUST for the FHBDFD Combo. Even better if you can find a cooperative
--------------------- Common skills worth mentioning (and investing gold into) ------------------------
Increases P. ATT by XXXX points and hits all enemies within 10 feet once, slowing their Cast Speed and Movement Speed by 30%.
Comments: Quick cooldown, AoE, Slows enemies down, a must for any Blade Dancer.
Sonic Cut (Resonating Blow as of new update):
Deals XXX damage every second for 12 seconds, stacks up to 5 times
Comments: A must for bossing, don't try to use it on normal enemies because it's not worth your time stacking it up 5 times. Stack it 5 times on bosses and when it's about to run out ( blinking skill icon under boss ) then use the skill again to keep it active, this will NOT reset the stack to 1.
Increases EVA by XXX points for 15 seconds.
Comments: Use this before grouping up mobs ( especially dungeons ) that 10% EVA rate (170 EVA points) bonus at lv 40 is crucial to surviving
I thought the wall of text was boring so ya
============================Accessories & back=====================
Since all capes suck use Rainbow Cloak from Golden Plains fame chest
Polar Sunset ring (DUH)
Wolf Howl ring (delphi fame chest) (evasionist)
Sadness ring (Crit build)
Balance Build - Any of the above rings
Combos are specific attack patterns to avoid any unnecessary skill cooldowns. You are supposed to repeat the combo until the mob / boss dies.
Lv 50: FH BD FH Ss BD (FHBDFHSsBD)
Stands for: F
Notes: There is a slight 0.3 seconds cooldown for Fury Hit after the first Blade Dance, the same goes for the second Blade Dance. May take 0.5 secs to redo the combo
Lv 60: FbD FH BD FH Ss BD (FbDFHBDFHSsBD)
Stands for: F
Notes: It's pretty much a no-cooldown unless you're lagging. Not to mention the awsome burst of damage Firebird Dance deals at the beginning
Lv 50: Ss FH BD FH Ss BD (SsFHBDFHSsBD)
Stands for: S
Notes: Shootingstar won't hurt since you're 1v1 when bossing. Shooting star does quick, decent damage, and hits twice
. Not only that but it gives time for skills like Blade Dance to cooldown
Lv 60: FbD Ss FH BD FH Ss BD (FbDSsFHBDFHSsBD)
Stands for: F
Notes: Pretty much the Lv 50 combo with Firebird Dance at the beginning since it needs a decent amount of cooldown time
- Use any of the Mobbing combos listed in the =Combos= section
- Know how much damage your enemy does
- As a Blade Dancer you are expected to group things up around you and AoE the Hard out of them
- Before attempting to AoE large groups of mobs (4+) make sure you have full health
- Before you are about to AoE mobs, turn on Slow Dance
- Slowly test how many mobs you can AoE at once, one by one, start by AoEing 3 at a time
- Turn on Dance of war and Song of Patience when you can
- If you think you're going to die (60% hp left), use Flashy Charm
- High EVA ( 80%+ ) will make you a great replacement for tanks when they die
- If the boss doesn't have a damage reflect buff OR Instant kill buff then use Magic Samba, otherwise if you're sure you can time when you need to cancel Magic Samba ( via Right Click on the buff ) then go ahead
- Do use Superstar on bosses
- Make sure that no one attacks while you are tanking ( since you can't aggro them )
- Use the SsFHBDFHSsBD combo or FbDSsFHBDFHSsBD combo
Map Boss tips:
- Have high EVA ( 90%+ ) and pray to God you won't die
- Keep calm and do the SsFHBDFB combo properly
- Use the SsFHBDFHSsBD combo or FbDSsFHBDFHSsBD combo
- You will most likely not be able to solo it, so get like 30 people or so
- You actually might be able to do something helpful for the group if the boss summons minions
- If you die, that's fine, because you're (kind of) supposed to, and don't feel bad because you're likeliness of dying is just about the same as everyone else
- You really don't wanna use Magic Samba. It's just... counterproductive, even if you're really good at canceling it at the right time (*use samba* *boss turns on damage reflect / insta kill* *cancels samba* *boss turns off reflect / InstaKO* *turns on samba again* *boss turns on buffs again* BD:#*()@#*()@) and it goes on FOREVER
Evasionist: Minimum Evasion: 50% recommended: 75%+
Crit: Minimum crit % : 50% recommended: 70%+. Average Crit dmg : +60%
