Write a tragic story about a melancholic princess who takes her own life, in fear that her necrotic powers would consume the land she ruled over. The princess then transcends into the purgatory and becomes a spirit; however, she suffers from amnesia, ultimately leading her to believe that she was a happy-go-lucky and energetic girl in her previous life. Thus, she inherits unnatural characteristics, which highly contrast her personality from her previous life. Additionally, she unknowingly inherits the same necrotic powers that she had when she was alive. She then proceeds by leaving the purgatory and enters our world as a wandering ghost, searching for a new meaning to her existence within our chaotic and unrighteous world.
Event after event, she slowly regains her memories and remembers about her terrifying powers and finally remembers the reason for her death. In a climatic conclusion, she resigns from her original goal to "Find new meaning to her existence," and returns to the purgatory so she can never endanger anyone with her powers ever again.
You can use this plot as a template for your next story and add extra details to make it more tragic.
Edit: Or you can completely ignore this post and let me use it for myself; I did not think I would create such a stable and refined plot in five minutes.

Tyvm for this brilliant idea icee
Only thing is since you put it in so much detail, it would take me sometime to put together such a wide variety of characters, plot, and some more..But after my FL term on fuji red i may just have time for this

Wide variety of characters... Writing is not always about quantity. Sometimes, lacking an aspect in writing can pull out stronger emotions from the readers, and that is what all writers go for, right? I think this story would play out better with as little characters as possible, or as few major characters as possible, at least. Keeping the main character as alone as possible will give her even more of a reason to search for that reason to exist.
I was thinking it would be better to make the main character an intermediary/observer type of character, similar to "The man who lives in your shadow" kind of relationship. The story would be told through her perspective, as she oversees different events in our world. As she observes, certain points in the event would require her to intervene, whether it is to save a life, or to stop something drastic from occurring.
The climax of the story could be an event where she unintentionally activates her necrotic powers and accidentally murders the person she tries to help, leading her to remember about her powers, et cetera, et cetera.
Sorry, I think I am writing the story out myself now...
