I believe setting those was an attempted workaround from the GameSages. In all honesty, you should never have to mess around with those types of settings. If it was indeed necessary, then those properly running the game with multi-core machines would also have to perform those manual steps (which they're not).
If per chance changing those settings actually have an effect on your client, I'd suggest using them until they patch again. At which time, attempt to stop using the settings and see if the patch fixed it. If it works, great...looks like perhaps something in the patch resolved the issue. Otherwise, continue to use it going forward.
TBH, if changing those settings has not had any effect on your client, then no use continuing to change them every time. Perhaps I'm wrong on this; however, I've played in countless betas and I don't ever recall that type of a fix actually making a difference.
