New chat filter?

saying nothing fast...
OK, someone has gone way too asexual, politically puritanical and overboard with this chat ban!!!

Aside from the typical stuff that gets banned like COMMON sexual terms, things like "Awwwww, that's terrible" and "they're at Dratan Temple" are now on the off list. Yes, i could type aww to avoid the www. ban, or I could say Procyon, but?! wtf, do you just want the people who type to shut up or something?

Half of what I type has something illegal in it.

"Nice Chatter on coming back from afk guys" said into guild chat.

chatteR? DRAtanteMPLE? both are banned.

You should really think about allowing party or guild chat... open/trade/shout is ok to censor, but inside the guild or party?! let's get real here.

If you're going to ban certain terms and ideals, make sure you do a THOROUGH job of it.

Evil or Very Mad

oh, and with stuff like that happening to bring the quality of the community down, you better make up for it in map/mobs, because without fun adult chatter, this game gets a bit boring.

I agree with you 100% and I have invested so much time into my characters and now I'm thinking of not playing anymore. I also have been an advocate for the game 100% and have always defended them, and this happens, censorship is an ugly ugly thing, I’m sad and disappointed in them. I understand they have underage players but to impose such sanctions against the community as a whole is unfair; there are probably a lot more adults playing but even so, if they are so worried about children then they can institute filters based on account or integrate a parental control into the game client and let that block words or images that may be offensive; I still see that there is blood spurt when u hit a beast and that some words are still allowed and this is permissible; interesting how some things are allowed and others not and yet who gets to decide this; not the community obviously and yet we are lead to believe that this is a community driven game/forum/etc. Sad times in the LC universe 

I whole heartedly agree.. it s actualy a very "simple" fix.. as is common in some other types of online games--- allow each INDIVIDUAL player the ability to turn on or off or set a degree or lvl of chat filter that will not display the unwanted or offensive words.. then it is upto the individual to say if they want to see those words on thier screen or not. and instead of removing the word have the 'filter' simply apply **** inplace of it. then if anyone has an "issue" or "problem" with the words they are seeing it is their own fault not the fault of a player or community of players. that would solve the issue completely and then the game could again enjoyable.. i personally have only been playing about 2weeks but already have a lvl 25 warr, 22 healer, 17 mage and 12 sorcerer. and when i am trying to explain something using COMMON treminology and have my entire sentance removed bcause of some lame off the wall word that means nothing or is a description of a place or thing or an acronym for something it makes me want to say "why am i puttin up with this - i could just go back to my old game for this hassle" for example, if you try to for. a .part it banns it due to the 'word' R.A.P.A. which means===Easter Island, also known as "Rapa Nui" ===Russell Association for the Performing Arts (RAPA)-- now how in the he!! is that a swear word?!?!?!? yeah it needs fixed and fast to say the least

Agreed. The filter is incomplete and broken and it disrupts regular conversation. Having to retype messages because it catches some obscure acronym or foreign word is frustrating and the censorship (and hypocrisy—I mean, 95% of the game involves systematically bludgeoning creatures with axes or pumping them full of arrows and a little cursing is suddenly an issue?) is unwelcome and unwarranted. I rarely see much swearing in public chat anyway and not of the deliberately disruptive sort. If a filter must be in place, it belongs in the public chats only. Or better yet, employ personal filters as suggested above. In the immediate term, just take the filter down altogether.
