Thoughts on debuff lapis

When it comes to end game, do you think its worth using Debuff lapis in your weapons or is it just taking up a slot which can be better spent on stats?

Opinions welcome, ty

For rec guards, I say debuff lapis are a great idea. You are a very sturdy character, and should be able to walk somewhat freely among the lights. Your main purpose will be to debuff people anyway, and so adding lapis will only make you more effective at your job. Especially if you make class specific debuff weapons, like silence/mp drains for keeping oracles in check.

For a DD, I think I lean more towards stats. Having said that, debuff weapons can be very very powerful. Even something like slumber, which goes away as soon as the target is hit, can really tip the scales in your favor. For a melee class, having your target asleep between attacks will mean 1 less attack aimed at you.

I had this happen a few times when facing a warrior with a slumber weapon. After being hit, I would try to use darkness or shield breaker to slow down the attack, but couldn't because of the debuff weapon. Usually when it worked, I was forced to run away when I could, or I ended up dead.

I have a lvl 70 UM rec defender and I use a globe fish linked with 6 debuff lapis. I don't have a ton of gold/op hammers so I picked the cheap ones. I have a jinx (reduce crit rate) 10mil, confusion (mp drain) 10mil, toxin (hp drain) 80mil, slumber (sleep) 25mil, slomo (reduce attack speed) 20mil, and disease (sp drain) 10mil in it and it works pretty well. It gives me almost a 50% chance of activating a debuff. I just run around and protection charge/silence/use all skills really on oracles. If I had large sums of gold/op hammers I would make another one with a pain (stun), silent, slomo, slumber, blindside (darkness), and another one. Keep in mind that ticking debuffs and physical attacks wakes up people put to sleep, like when i put someone to sleep and they already have mp drain on them, when the mp drain ticks it wakes them up. It is still a sec or 3 they are asleep and not doing anything which is big in pvp.

As far as in PVE ticking debuffs add aggro and debuffs like slow attack speed, poison, and sleep are always good on mobs. For a rec defender a 6 slotted debuff weapon fully linked with debuffs really helps out a lot in pvp and in pve.

OMG I thought I was the only one who ever did this! Very Happy I have a 64 (going for 70) UM tank defender, and I too put 6 debuffs into a globefish. I too am not so rich, so I linked: toxin, slomo, curse, jinx, panic, and crawl. I LOVE it for PvP and PvE. It makes Panic, the spell, a distance attack for several debuffs. And sometimes a single cast of panic puts on several debuffs at once before the mob or Fury gets to me. I enchanted to get more attack power, tho for tank this is opional, but after using up all 6 slots, it IS an option to get attack power still. If/when I can spend more, I'd like silent, pain and darkness as well. So basically, I totally agree with everything Davewave said and love debuffs for tank build defenders.

Hy. Does debuf lapis have effect on all mobs that I tank when I am using AoE's or do I have to hit them with my weapon? I play priest and BD. Ty.

When you tank the use an AoE, the debuff has a chance to hit all the mobs. Since the debuff(s) do not hit 100% of the time, it hits some and misses others.

...

I agree with other players that posted their replies: Debuff lapis is excellent for tankers in PvP but small use for attackers in PvP and complete waste of money in PvE.

For 20-30 PvP, all debuff lapis are good. For 70 PvP read carefully about their effect and pick at least few of them:

tankers - toxin, slumber, slomo, confusion, disease, jinx...

attackers - toxin, pain, crawl, freez...
