I am posting each of my suggestions separately. I realise that makes a large number of posts, but it ensures that no suggestion gets lost if there are a lot of comments.

Suggestion 19: At present it is impossible to determine if a city you are looking at is a member of your alliance or an enemy alliance. Colour coding the city names would help – green for allied cities, yellow for cities from friendly alliances, red for cities from enemy alliances, blue for ones own cities and white for everyone else. This would make helping allied cities a lot easier.
