The US Government pushing it to the limit. A recent class-action lawsuit against At&t Mobility was dismissed. 5 republican justices sided with corporations and 4 democratic justices sided with the consumer. The majority decision was that consumers cannot combine their lawsuits together to bring against a corporation. The dispute in the case was over a $30 charge on every consumer's (in the case) bill.
Justices that sided with corporations say that companies can require consumers to sign arbitration agreements. This is bad for consumers because not majority of the people wont think it worth bring a lawsuit to court for small numbers such as $30. Huge win for corporations.
This ties into Sony now because they have a quite a few class action lawsuits in process. They may all get dismissed because of this decision.
Being a law minor, I am highly appalled by this decision.
