AFAIK it takes a couple of weeks for xFire to produce a patch that works with a game. Usually they only accept game client submissions after open beta. You can "manually" add a game to Xfire and it usually will work but some features might not.

+1, the overlay will not come until the game gets added. Kitsu Saga took a long time to be added.
I could never figure out how to manually add kitsu saga to xfire.
