First try to following methodes
Run the launcher as admin
check firewall permission
try updating with pc in safe modus
After some investigation and a lot of trial and error i must admit i can not find the reason why some systems take the zipped file and others don't.
However (like i said trial and error)
the methode that gave me a 10 out of 10 succesrate on a few test systems was the following.
Install the game using either the dwo installer, the fileshack mirror or the file inside the DWOFull that i provide in the first post. Then take the separate update files (either download them one by one or take them out of DWOFull and place them inside
then start up the game, the updater will look in that location to download the patch finding it already there and update them one after the other. the files will be automaticly deleted form that location after the update
i have created a mirror for every patch aeria have given out for DWO so far
dwonrx20000051200005.exe (heavenly strike update)
use these if an update won't work. Mind you that after an update is done the updater will automaticly search for the new update online and download it and installs it. chances are that the update process will go as it should, if not remember which update failed (yes keep an eye on your update process and count the updates) and download the proper file.
i also created a full set of the initial installer including all the updates in one zip, this file can be found here DWOfull.zip
for those that can't download a 2 gig file in one time i broke up te install into 250mb downloads
when you run the zip file it will extract all files in one single file, you can download them in random order but need them all before running the zip
I too have tried that and it failed, but i found something that works.
Find someone, a friend mainly, and this is very simple (if you use teamspeak) have your friend who has already updated to Heavenly Strike successfully upload the DWOnlineLchr.bin to the teamspeak, then you download, it is much faster than megaupload.
just replace the old one with the new one, then update like normal.
Then, Voila! you have the update!!
I have not tryed this methode, i have asked him for some more info (how far was his DWO updated already and such) but did not yet got a reply. Anyway for those willing to give it a try, the file in question can be found at DWOnlineLchr.zip
this file is comming from my own installation
It seems that the red ring update changed some critical settings that rendered my unzip no-install file useless for about 95% of the systems, with a succes rate of less then 5% i find it useless to have the methode posted here so i am taking this one down. the update zips and the DWOFull zip will remain available since this seems to work for most people, still not for all but i will keep looking and trying to find a way to have us ALL playing
Today Friday 04/22/11 GMDLO posted the following about lag issues
Here's a post that I've compiled using some stuff from the other guides located on the Shaiya and Wolf Team Forums, in order to help anyone who is suffering from connection or lag issues.
Issue #1. Maintenance
Is it Monday? is it late in the afternoon? Dynasty Warriors has its weekly maintenance every Monday at 5 PM PST/PDT. Please be aware of this.
Issue #2. You are behind a firewall
Try disabling your firewall, if it works then do your best to make sure to add Dynasty Warriors to the exceptions list.
If you are using windows firewall check your exceptions list (located by going to start -> control panel ->windows firewall -> exceptions tab)
Issue #3. An anti-virus program is interfering
Try disabling your anti-virus
Issue #4. A third party program is conflicting
End all programs that you don't need.
first press ctl + alt + del then go to the processes tab and all programs that you know you don't need (keep Local Service, Network service, System, explorer.exe, rundll32.exe)
Issue #5. I get an account name/password error
Go to the Aeria Games website and log in then log back out. This should allow you to log into the game.
Also Dynasty Warriors does not recognize account names with 3 characters or less. If your account name is only 3 characters long please create a new account to use when playing Dynasty Warriors.
If you receive this error and the above does not apply to you then you might be banned, please send in a ticket using the Contact us to find out why.
If you’re running Windows Vista or Windows 7, then most likely you have Aero running. This is a feature that allows your windows and menu to appear transparent and provides the desktop with more vibrant colors. Although it makes your Desktop look cooler, it pulls a lot from your computer’s graphics card. At least while you are playing a game, it is a very good idea to turn it off. To have Aero automatically turn off while Dynasty Warriors is playing follow the following steps:
Right click on the Dynasty Warriors Shortcut > Properties > Compatibility > Then make sure the box ‘Disable Desktop Composition’ is checked.
If you are playing the game on a Laptop, make sure that your computer is plugged in and the battery setting is set to ‘High Performance.’ To Change the Battery Setting right click on the battery icon at the lower right hand corner of the screen, then choose Power Options. Find ‘High Performance’ and activate that setting.
Remember to maintain your computer with regular programs that will assure your computer is running at its best potential. There is free software (Legal) that will do all of the things automatically for you with just a touch of a button! I highly recommend downloading iOrbit’s Advanced System Care 3, as well as a program that will help turn off unneeded features before you play a game (Game Booster 2.) The links will bring you straight to the website for download. I have used and tested both for about a year, and they work great! If you don’t already have Security Software, download their Security 360 as well! When using Advanced System Care 3, just click the ‘Care” button and it will do everything for you! You can also click the Turbo Boost button and have it automatically turn features off.

On the Startup Loader go to Launch Configuration, from here you have tools that allow you to change features that fit your specific computer’s ability to run the game. Of course, it is ideal to have the ability to run everything at maximum, but if you’re lagging try to change things. I recommend changing the resolution to 1024x768, remember the more pixels you use the more devotion your graphics card will have to devote to it.
You can also switch the graphics for while in town or in battle, I suggest playing around with putting things such as number of models on display etc. to low.
It has been suggested that wireless has been causing connectivity problems. You can try these steps posted by menno82
note: make sure you are in classic mode on your control panel
for Windows XP do this :
disable Window's XP Zero Configuration service using
control panel > administrative tools
For Windows Vista
use WLANOptimizer to disable the wireless checks every 1 min
( same as Window's XP Zero Configuration service )
get it from here :
( Run As Administrator )

OK, I been doing a few tests to find out what makes us all crash. From the tests I have found this, You will Crash a whole lot more if you got Any sort of web browser running. Especially internet explorer. Ive noticed with my web browser up that I crash 1,000% more than I would without it running. In fact I have noticed I 1/100 game will crash without the web browser up. And with it up I will crash about 50/100 games or more. Now this all being said, If I do crash without my web browser It is from playing Wu in confront. I have fought dz, LB, CC in confront. Yes I know its colliding with the bin folder but, I think the population in Wu or some sort of bug in wu is also effecting it.
So what I'm trying to say is, For those who run ur internet browser try playing a few days without it on and see how it goes.
Also After they do maintenance and you load the game up, shut the game down and ur computer, then restart it. You will see better results.
