Indefinitely "connecting to patch server"

while using Dial-up
Im using a laptop and I got LC to run fine at home... all the normal laptop issues not included.

But... at work, yes, I'm trying to play while I get payed! Anyways, at work I have a phone line that is not used so I thought to myself "self, why don't we try to connect via dialup model?" Self replied to me saying "yes!, what a great idea You (err.. I?) had."

So, once self and I decided to try a modem connection I downloaded NetZero free internet connection - I didn't want to pay for some dialup service that I will only use occasionally at work if it doesnt work.

So, I get the NetZero stuff downloaded and installed at home, and when I get to work I fire it up!!! I got a connection no problem. I googled some very important words like "pie" and "Gardetto's Roasted Garlic Rye Chips" and everything works great. Clickie Clickie here we go, surfing the internet.

Now, (gong sound), when I try to start up Last Chaos (which is presently Lost Chaos, cuz I cannot find it), I get the following:

And folks, lemme tell ya - it stays like that. No, seriously, it does... I did some more google searches, important ones again, like "Correct way to fold socks" and "Countdown until the next alien invasion" - still works. OMG, we only got a few years until they invade - trust me, I found it on the interweb, its TROOF!

I'm using McCoffee Security Center that is free for the next 18 months on my new little lappy here, and I have not a clue how to configure it.... but remember, LC works fine at home.

Any ideas guys?

I'm taking suggestions on how to fix Lost Chaos AND how best to wrap foil around ones head to hide themselves from the aliens.

Thanks in advance - long live the human race.

I see that LC couldn't even get news on the launcher. All the patches and news to be displayed on the LC launcher are retrieved via normal internet connection (http) using IE controls.

Since you're not seeing any of this, it's possible that NetZero does not allow direct connection but to its proxy (most ISPs use proxies to speed things up). I personally have not tried this through dial-up, so I can't really suggest anything, but it's most likely that NetZero blocks the connection.

I thought NetZero would be the problem...

I'll try through a pay-for type service and see if it works.

Thanks for the timely replies.
