Nice

Nice. I love the work you did with the background mostly...

Im the worst when it comes to backgrounds.

But, I have question.

what's the process in making this?

Do you just directly use your art program to do it

or do you scan the doodle, and color it in?

Some people I heard that do their drawing only with tablet,
no doodle no scanning.

I haven't got the tablet yet, [ scanning / coloring with mouse ftw Very Happy ]

never heard of PaintTool... SAI?
Im using Open Canvas 4.5v atm.

hahaha... I had my tablet for 6 years already... lol... they last pretty long.. I want a new one though... the ones with buttons on the side or top of it makes drawing so much more efficient ><...

strobava:
Ah... well... thats true... I was very half half when I bought SAI... its quite expansive... but I do it for a hobby so I do get the most out of it. ^^ For Photoshop... I got it for free =P... my school gives out free cd keys to comp sci students... and for some reason... one of them was Photoshop =P

BUT~!! I am sure there are a lot of programs that can do what I did with photoshop. Most programs have hue/brightness/contrast adjustments, layers, and transform tool: like skew, rotate, free transform... etc... I dont konw if any other program have the warp tool photoshop has... but I am sure you can live without it if u must XD.

well, I am pretty sure if you look hard enough online... you might find free version of photoshops (hint hint) XD

MrMice (aka tiga [I know who u r =P, but do u know who I am?]):
Do u mean making the background? or drawing the whole thing?
For the background... I did multiple of textures, using hue/satration or brightness and contrast adjustments to get it to the color I want. I think I ended up with 4 to 5 layers of textures on the background. the word "WU" was found online, than comp edit (gradiant tool) to that color... the circle around the world "WU" was a vector made in photoshop, along with the 2 faint lines behind the head of my char. The bamboo stick is reference from some chinese water painting, and then making it a bit transparent. There is texture on the bamboo stick too... but I dont' think you can see it in this version since its so small.

I did everything on comp... well... I usually scan it in first... but I got lazy to do a hand sketch this time... the line art is my avatar right now... XD

For CG... I think tablet helps a lot by speeding everything up, by a lot... lol

Open Canvas? I loved open canvas XD, I use to use it. Sai is similar, except sai doesn't have the drawing recording function which open canvas has... which looks really cool.
But Sai has a line smoothing tool (I think I mention this a thousand times in this thread already =_=) and water color brush so I prefer Sai more ^^

Your character's expression is totally badass and the art itself is beautiful. Thank you for making such a beautiful piece of work and sharing it with the rest of us Smile

-> TreyDobe: I am not good enough to teach anyone yet...><... but if you have any question about how I drew that... you can always sent me a pm XD

-> NatOreN: Thanks, I am still new to it... but adding some small details really lightens up the pic ^^... I will continue to do so on my other pics XD

Sorry for the late reply but sure, if you got any tutorials on how you colored it as well as some sites that show how to draw anatomy it would help some ^^

that final pic looks awesome, if I had money I'd commission you for my dude Smile

On most forums when people post "fan art," it ends up being garbage. But this is actually very likeable. Stunning~ <3 (Make more, it was great.)
