As many people have indicated, the upkeep on weapons for both temper and element gets obnoxiously large the higher the rank of the weapon and current temper of the weapon. Many of us want to be able to use our weapons fitted for our ranks (with the tempers to go with it), but with how fast durability drops for the higher rank, higher temper weapons as well as the ore/gem upkeep costs and the rarity of gems/ore from battles (which for many of us, the Distribution skill is a long way's to go from being at a fitting level due to how scarce Distribution points are from quests) it becomes a very bad recipe that forces us to downgrade to lower rank, tempered weapons or to use weapons of our rank with no tempers on the weapons. Are we supposed to grind out heavy amounts of Tu Hao and Nanman for gems with butter knives while cash shoppers can wave their wallets to get attention?
People need to be rewarded for playing, as opposed to being punished for playing. Gold is very plentiful, but finding little use for those of us that don't gorge in cash shopping because we can't get the gems/ore to upgrade/maintain our weapons, which means no point activating high rank weapons. If we could by gems and ore for gold, much like gems/ore for Aeria Points, we could spend our gold, a reward for questing (which means a reward for playing). This way, we could upgrade/maintain higher rank weapons and be rewarded for playing the game. There's no reward if we have to sit back and grind Nanman for gems/ore (with how rare it is) to maintain weapons while someone can just toss a wallet and say "Here's my money. Let's talk business." (which is not playing the game).
