To receive the crystals, do you just have to achieve the combo amount, or finish the battle with it?

You only need to reach the combo amount to receive the crystals.

So when fighting the bosses you encounter during questing, you can select one or two guild members to assist you. I needed help on a battle and added one person, but now I can't remove them. They show up automatically for every boss battle. So, do you guys know how to set it back to default? Thanks.

You can only select others. Doesn't hurt or hinder anything though. Nor do they get anything for it.

Stamina per attack based on 3 and 4 attacks per payout (assuming no conjure pot or immortal) lower percentage is better return on investment. 
Conclusion: When time is not a factor, it is more efficient to quest for MP in Vallhalla City at the worst of times than in Lightning Peak at the best of times. 

Now I will admit that the math I used isn't the best way to illustrate the point, but from the perspective I took, it is accurate.
