not compatible
I just got a new laptop with windows 8 and I installed DWO. I tried to go to battle and I get disconnected as soon as I go in.

Bladewolf had the same problem, hopefully he will be on soon to tell you what he did to fix it.

There are many players who suffer from this. I think it's a becoming a larger issue as windows 7 is starting to be phazed out. (I hate windows 8 too. The layout annoys me, it's like people who have 300 shortcuts on their desktop that they use once a year.) They really need to fix this. I think it's one of the many reasons the player base isn't increasing.

Anyways, there have been no confirmed fixes by anyone. Maybe try installing linux and finding some way to have a program that emulates a windows environment and running DWO. Only thing I can think of to help you. Otherwise e-mail Koei or you're SoL.

It would be nice to find out what background program is causing the client to flip out but...nobody really knows. I would do it myself but I specifically got a new comp with windows 7 because I knew that this issue was not going to get fixed anytime soon and didn't want to deal with the hassle.

Wait, the Windows 8 issue STILL hasn't been fixed? Come on. One of the games I play had a Windows 8 issue, but they got it resolved in a few weeks. If it's not fixed by now, WHAT are they doing?

P.S. Haven't seen or used Windows 8, but I can tell that quite a few people don't like it, so if I get a new laptop, I'm aiming for Windows 7.

You're the ONLY person I know that it works for then. It's probably some kind of internet/network configuration setting.

2 things you shouldn't have on your computer:

Windows 8
DWO.

Fix that and you'll be fine

This is why I don't play DWO

I have windows 8. It works fine.
Maybe you need to run it via your desktop?
