Shield sprite is fine as a main, I personally think that relic sprites are higher to find at some levels though. If you plan to buy legacy armor than apparel sprites aren't really needed much at all. At higher levels you will just use legacy or pvp set, unless you want the alchemy or orange set at 70 or 80 yellow set. You will want an axe and swords sprite later for 40, 50, 65, 75, 80 2h (if want), and 85 axe and the 60 2h and 75 2h swords are nice dps. The only hammers you will need are low level 1h hammers for malice, 60 1h hammer, 75 hammer, 85, and 90. A relic sprite is needed too, 50 and 70 relics are a must get. So in conclusion, you will be switching your two off hand sprites a lot for gear.

Note: Not all these weapons are "needed" just if you want to be beyond just tanking and do good dps and well in pvp too.

Also, just a reminder, but anytime you want to get rid of a sprite and get a new one, you could always return any sprite (excluding your Guardian Sprite) at the altars.

Legacy Armor can cost Aeria Points which are bought with real money and then the Legacy Armor bought via the Item Mall in-game or on the Web Item Mall if you have enough Aeria Points, but this isn't the only way of obtaining it. Legacy Armor can be bought with gold from the Auction House or from other players throughout the game. Warrior Legacy(last time I checked) was going for about 600-800g in Ponchee. The prices can vary from the two servers, but are usually around about the same and do tend to go up and down all the time.
