Maybe I'm misunderstanding this, but isn't the whole point of the "Barter" forum to buy and sell goods from in-game...

Thats exactly what it is. not everybody has the time to look trough all the shops ingame, and not everybody has the items he wants to sell in his shop all the time.
You can spam WTB or WTS messages ingame, but not everybody is online the whole time.
Since we don't have an auction house ingame, this Forum section is one of the better ways to make a longer lasting buy or sell anouncement.

I think i get what the missunderstanding is about. What the GM was talking about, was selling/buying items for real money, wich should be against Aeria rules. BUt this forum is about selling/buying for ingame gold, which is totaly ok.
