This is troubling to hear.... I usually play DPS Warrior (Arms In Wow, Rift Etc). Me and tanking are very familiar buddies, but If I can't tank for my guild I am not needed, which makes me a liability and a waste of space.... And if AOE's are anything like they are in EE (shudder.... so much useless running back and forth, and kiting... kiting should be something a tank never has to do, especially when he/she has a healer) then Idk.... :/ I guess I won't know until I see for myself.

2h warrior can bearly handle tanking normal mobs never mind bosses, 1h warrior is the only way to go for a tank that can both take hits and hold aggro. As far as kitting goes they are some bosses where kitting is needed and some where it isen't.

You should always try and take the minimum ammount of damage possible so your cleric as enought room to heal other party members if something goes wrong and not have to concentrate on you constantly. You shouldn't be relying on a random crit heal or spiritual solace to fix everything if your tanking the boss wrong.

I didn't mean to imply I would be 2h tanking. This always seems to be a problem with these games where normal healing isn't enough to keep a tank alive against a pack of mobs. your right I shouldn't have to rely on a crit at all if I and the healer are both well-geared. The only thing I should have to worried about is staying out of the "fire", and knowing any important boss mechanics. There really shouldn't be anything else to worry about until end-game, but since I was late for any testing I won't know.... I'm merely going by my tanking experience I have in other games.

Well staying out of aoes isen't that hard since there's a red circle that appears on the ground around the boss when they are casting telling you it's incoming and exactly how large it is.

The only boss mechanics that requires attention is that some bosses like titus galeblade and baron have ranged single target attacks that disgards aggro, they'll just randomly drop it on somebody. Those attacks usually don't do that much damage but they have pretty dangerous damage over time that can kill ppl if your cleric gets tunel visoned on the tank and dosen't notice.

a.k.a.: kiteing. kiteing can be done in almost every aeria ftp mmo, including this one. check out some of the korean and thai you tube videos of lime odyssey, lots of kiteing going on there...

ftp has nothing to do with whether move and shoot is allowed, it's all about game mechanics and whether the dev's want to allow that or not.

With Mage/Cleric, you can move around and use insta-cast spells at the same time while charged spells, you need to stand still, moving will cancel.

In any case I didn't mean for this to get off topic. I looked at the skill calculator the user from before used to link her build.... It seems ok, and each side is exactly as it describes I'm excited to play this game for myself and see if it can Drag me away from DN for awhile haha.

lol a topic that doesn't get dragged off topic would be a first. and as one of the (very) lucky few who played both alphas: if you're looking for non-generic, fun, and want to play with friends; then this you should really enjoy. look forward to to seeing you in beta. Very Happy
